I Have Something to Say

Big hugs going out today to women who would love to have children but cannot, to those who have had to bury their own children (something no parent should ever have to do), those whose mothers have died, those whose mothers no longer recognize them due to Alzheimer's or senile dementia, and those who have to limit contact with their mothers because of physical or emotional abuse.

I don't want to be a downer, but this is a tough day for some of us, who are reminded of something important that is missing in our lives.
I just saw this and I really wish I would have saw it a few days back. That can be tragic, heartbreaking even, A woman with maternal instincts who cannot act on them. I can only say that fertility drugs have done a lot for women in the past 20 or so years. But to those who are older-and escaped that window- some now, may even be in menopause or through it, it is a void. I feel for them.

Perhaps it is best to understand that we all have our own unique gifts to offer the world. I am not so sure a woman is defined by her ability to give birth- any more than man is defined by a low or high sperm count. There are even those that just have blanks and cannot get a woman with child.

I know saying that does not make things right, or easier, or less painful. She feel flawed, incomplete, less than complete. And she aches inside each time a friend get with child.

You r post is a great post. And I really think it needed said. I can imagine the feeling is akin to those , at Christmas, who for whatever reason HAVE no family. To them, there no joy. The sense of celebration others may enjoy they lack.

In the end I believe we all lack something. But as a woman I know this one has to be the hardest thing to accept.

So very well said. My mum died 5 years ago and I think about her alot. I thought of her at my younger sons graduation last year, she would have been so proud.

@Egg01 Oh, I'm so sorry that your mom couldn't be there for that, and I'm sure she would have been.

Kinda reminds me how God’s heart broke to see his only son on that cross chrushed him with his rath but what are weekness are he took them to the feet of the cross !!!!!! Now I can breath again and know that my life with my son was a reason and a season ........I’m at peace after all those years being looked up in a mental hospital for suicide I’m finally free most of all !!!!! I AM FREE IN MY MIND!!!! Now no more prisoners in my own mind I hope this can help someone know you are going to be okay stay strong brothers and sisters God is good taste and see!!!!!

Nice sentiment. I lost my mother when I was 11. I think of her often, the wonderful things she was never able to experience.

@samueltyler2 Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your mother at such a young age. :( It sounds like you had a good relationship with her. I hope that there's some comfort in that, though it must be sad to think of all that she has missed, and that you have missed by not having her with you.

Not a downer, just pause for thought.

That's not good. Bless these women and yourself for not being able to have kids. Hugs and love to you all. P.S. I can be your kid.

@Stereoguy I'm so sorry. :( Yes, I'm sure that adoption is much more difficult than it sounds.
