I Have a Question

Do people who spoil their kids rotten ever think about the potential serious harm they're doing to their kids? I've known plenty of spoiled brats who as adults struggle with life. They're shocked when they don't get all the special treatment they were given as kids. They especially struggle with the fact that they can't always get their way and seem to struggle with life's everyday ups and downs. I know parenting is not easy and all parents make mistakes, but it seems like common sense that it's a bad idea to treat your child like "king of the hill."

I've never met anyone who was spoiling their kid who was actually aware of what they were doing. Their methods have already been justified in their own minds.

There is a quadrant and the 2 axis' represent responsiveness and control. When you are too responsive to the child IE do whatever they want you get what you are referring to, but just because that is a possibility you dont want to do the opposite. Completely controlling your kid is just as harmful. The ideal thing to do is to balance out keeping your kid in line and responding to their needs.

You're right justNIK. People who spoil their kids seem to think the world will treat their wonderful child the same way they've treated them.
Parents that spoil their kids don't realize the harm they are doing to them regrettably
