What historical fact have you found yourself triggering awe in people with the most?

was talking to a girl one time, kind of long ago, maybe 15 years ago, and she thought the Earth was still flat and that you could walk off the end of it

USA did not end WWII and did nothing to prevent it in the first place.

I’m not sure we are capable of awe anymore. We figure we know so much that the rest is minor trivia.

80% to 95% of the ocean is unexplored. 71% of the earth’s surface is ocean. So, to be undramatic, we know zero facts (not theories, not comparisons, not anecdotal notions) about 80% of 71% of the earth’s surface.

Never mind the rest of the universe(s).

Before my hometown legalized the state lottery in the 80's there was a lot of preaching on the radio and church folks about the sin of gambling. As a kid it kind of made me believe evil has arrived when they legalized it.
