Maybe I’ve reached a point where compliments don’t really affect me anymore. I can appreciate them without needing them to feel good about myself.

I worked in a call center a few years ago, and my supervisor told me that she looked forward to seeing my smiling face every day...that I was shining like an angel, and ALWAYS lifted her spirits.

THEN when I looked a little doubtful, she said, "No, I'm serious!" 🤭🤭🤭

Compliments on my parenting mean a lot because "dad" is my favorite thing I've ever been. It's reassuring to hear. But I feel happier when people compliment my daughter's intelligence because I already think she's smart too. It feels validating to know I'm not just biased. She makes me proud 🥲

That I'm a genius

Hard to rank all the kind words lately, but yesterday someone told me they’re proud of how I’m rising and shining. That one definitely hit different. ✨ Thankful for the people who see the effort.

When I was working as a waitress in my early twenties, a little kid whose table I was serving told me I have pretty eyes. My eyes are the only thing I truly like about myself, so that was a compliment to last a lifetime. ☺

As an instructor of high school age kids, I do get compliments from some of my students, but even better is that I get compliments from the other instructors on my sometimes strange teaching methods.
