What secret do most industries hide from the public?

I'll let the public answer this, but this is someone else story from online to give you an idea.

From Anonymous
I used to work in the OR at a major University hospital. Most of the staff referred to the organ harvest personnel from organizations like “Gift of Life” as “The vultures”.

The nurses especially hated them. They would be working their asses to save a person's life while the vultures were making plans for that person’s organs.

I agreed with the nurses and other staff who thought the vultures were disgusting and repulsive. It really hit me as I witnessed the trauma team save a life one night. I watched them celebrate as the frustrated vultures balked and questioned the prognosis of the patient. Then the vultures began telling the surgeon about the girl who needed the patient's heart. The surgeon put them in there place and threatened to ban them from his OR if they ever acted like that again.

The other thing that I have witnessed multiple times was organs being harvested from “brain dead” people. They remove the organs while they are still alive and then leave them to die from no longer having those organs. I saw this happen a few times.

The first time I saw it was when they removed the liver and kidneys from a woman who had no detectable brain activity. When they finished they sewed her up and put her in a different room to let her die.

I couldn’t believe they just left her to die alone in empty OR. I waited there with her and talked my boss. She said they do that all the time, but it is against policy. She told me to wait there until a nurse showed up and she thanked me for doing the right thing.

I changed my organ donor status after that. If you are an organ donor, and you are in a life or death situation in the hospital, there will be people making plans for your organs and routing for your death, just outside the room you are fighting for your life in.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout maybe if I was a felon but not by my own accord

I can honesty say, I am not a felon. But its a double egde sword topic. Like how can the government just strip people of their rights and freedom and still call this place a free nation.

Like look 911 happen, but the entire country got punished for it. We all lost tons of rights and freedoms though the patroit act and get the TSA at airports.

Soon the TSA will be on the streets in our cars, by keeping us from shifting them into gear, automatically locking us in and calling the cops if we think of doing something

@HumanEarth perhaps you are correct

What I saw with my parents deaths, it was the family members that seemed to be the vultures.
HumanEarth · F
That's horrible, I fought tooth and nail to keep my mom and uncle out of nursing home.

My mom had MS and my uncle has Parkinson's

@HumanEarth We were able to keep my mom at home with hospice care, but my dad had dementia and became combative.
After many trips to the hospital, they put him in a senior mental health facility because he assaulted one of the nursing staff.
His condition quickly declined and he died in that facility.
The conditions in that place was shocking.

That's so heart breaking, but an understandable reason

From my experience in EMS the “vultures” referred to motorcycles as donor cycles. They came out of the woodwork whenever I came into ER with a motorcycle accident, especially if they were unconscious and unresponsive. Swear they would listen to radio transmissions between the ambulance and the doctors.
