I'll jump on the 12-5 bandwagon, with the caviot that if you are showing up in the afternoon for an afternoon activity, 4:55 would be late.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
usually the same things i consider before noon...

or, to answer your other question, in terms of appointments, afternoon is any time post-lunch and pre-17:00...

roughly speaking...
JustNik · 51-55, F
12-5 pm. After that it’s evening and they’re officially late.
This is usually an indicator that they will fit you in when convenient.. It might be 1, but probably more likely 3 or 4.

Maybe between 2 and 4. Maybe even 1 and 4. something like that. 5:00 is afternoon but it's really kind of the beginning of evening

@CrazyMusicLover I was going to say 12.00 - 5pm
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@ArtieKat Could be but 12:00 is still noon to me. Sometimes in summer I'd say even later, like 2 PM - 8 PM because the sun is strong around 1 PM and days are very long. But I think of working time as well and 12:00 - 12:30 or 12:00 - 1 PM is typically a lunch break.
