Is there a food you just cannot eat either because of health or an intense dislike of it?
As kids, most start out drinking cordials, fruit juices and fizzy drinks for a treat. I know this isn't all kids, but I think it is probably a big percentage of us as youngsters. Most of us are brought up with a strong neutral pathway to sweeter tasting substances, and we don't tend to crave harsh and bitter tastes. But as we get on a bit our taste changes.
My mother told me about how her gran used to give her a wee drop of Guinness as a baby to soothe her. I remember trying a little sip myself as a kid and it felt like I had stuck my tongue on a battery (another kid got me to do this at eleven 🙄) so beer has never been a favourite of mine. Or: Sushi, black pudding, liver or any kind of offal, coleslaw.

Can’t have anything with gluten in it unless I want to deal with sharp needle like pains in my joints. I can make gluten free versions but things like yeast breads take a bit of time and labor. Want to do it today, craving a grilled cheese sandwich and toast with eggs for breakfast.
@cherokeepatti I have a story about me and liver. I always hated liver, then I watched lonesome dove with Tommy Lee Jones. His partner I forget his name. But Tommy lee’s partner ate liver and onions he made it seem so tasty. I saw the movie years ago and I still to this day about every 6 months or so I try liver and onions! I haven’t liked it yet!😂 😂
@cherokeepatti it’s weird I like fried chicken liver and hearts maybe cause it’s fried! When I was a young boy I hated tomatoes, but loved ketchup!😂 Now I eat all the vegetables that has been offered to me!
I grew up in the Big Thicket and my wife was Conan’s! I ate just about everything. In high school (which was just about 20-30 miles away) my brother was dating a girl from Hoop n holler and her grandma made the best squirrel brain gumbo!she actually put in the squirrel skull. The first time I had it I had my reservation when I saw the squirrel head, but I thought screw it I eat squirrel regularly just not the brain! Loved It every since!
I have a story about me and liver as well. When I was about 9 or 10 I recall seeing a small tub holding about one serving of chocolate pudding in the fridge. Couldn't resist so I swallowed it whole and didnt realize it was actually liver until it was on its way down already. Immediately got the urge to bring it up but no go, too late. 🤮 Tasted horrible, I've never liked liver since then.
