Is there a food you just cannot eat either because of health or an intense dislike of it?

As kids, most start out drinking cordials, fruit juices and fizzy drinks for a treat. I know this isn't all kids, but I think it is probably a big percentage of us as youngsters. Most of us are brought up with a strong neutral pathway to sweeter tasting substances, and we don't tend to crave harsh and bitter tastes. But as we get on a bit our taste changes.

My mother told me about how her gran used to give her a wee drop of Guinness as a baby to soothe her. I remember trying a little sip myself as a kid and it felt like I had stuck my tongue on a battery (another kid got me to do this at eleven 🙄) so beer has never been a favourite of mine.
Or: Sushi, black pudding, liver or any kind of offal, coleslaw.

I have had my mitral valve replaced in my heart. Because of this, I can't have too much vitamin K. That comes mostly from leafy green vegetables. If I have too much of it, it causes the blood to clot, and a blood clot could go from my titanium valve to my brain and make me have a potential stroke.

@HowtoDestroyAngels Wow who would have thought leafy green vegetables could be harmful.

@HowtoDestroyAngels there are alternate anticoagulants that might be useful and not have that problem.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 I might have to check that out.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 Is Omega 3 good for that?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@HowtoDestroyAngels ask if you can be switched to a direct acting anticoagulation.

Omega 3s are probably good, but don't replace anticoagulation.

@HowtoDestroyAngels just say you don’t like salad 🙄 😜
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JimboSaturn they contain vitamin K which reverses the effect of some anticoagulants, for example coumadin.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 Because my valve is titanium instead of made of a pig valve, my cardiologist said that coumadin is the only type of blood thinner that I can take.

@HowtoDestroyAngels Now I have the song "I am titanium!" in my head.

@HowtoDestroyAngels I'm so sorry to heare that.

@HowtoDestroyAngels i dint know why thebsubstsncr matters, but that isnt my specialty.

@mossyboots It's okay. I have a good valve now! From the time that I was 21 until I was 45, I would always have chest pain. I would go to doctors or urgent care or even the emergency room about it, and they would always just say I have anxiety. When I turned 45, I got a great doctor who suggested I see a cardiologist about my chest pain. It turned out that it was a defective mitral valve that I had had since birth! They did the open-heart surgery, put in the titanium valve, and now I'm as good as new!
