@smiler2012 No need to swear but what became colloquially called The Poll Tax was abolished long ago!

We pay the Council Tax, but neither taxes were new in principle. They had replaced the Rates - a charge on each household according roughly to house value, to fund local services.

(The Community Charge - the so-called Poll Tax - was levvied on all adults in the household instead.)

@HootyTheNightOwl That's basically a subscription to BBC services, and is nowadays ridiculously low, cheaper than a pint of beer or a couple of quarts of milk, a week, for what it brings.

@ArishMell yes i understand the principle of how it works and the history still a f@cking rip off by the tories tio squeeze more money out of us rather than paying rates to cover short falls they could of did not want to cover financially

@smiler2012 Maybe, but it all comes to the same thing really, and by Labour as well as Conservative, national and local governments.

The problem is we all expect more and more for less and less, and expect perfection with it!
