Have you witnessed a lot of automotive accidents?

It happens to me once every few months, sometimes more frequently. Yesterday I heard it behind me and looked in my mirror just in time to see a motorcycle sliding across the shoulder and the guy popped up in the air and landed so hard he bounced and rolled.

I'm always the first person to run out and check on the people. I never mind helping but I usually roll out before the ambulance and police get there because that's when it gets weird.

Thank the gods he was wearing his helmet and leather riding gear or he'd of been shredded. His boot was literally shredded ☹

It's been this way since I was little. My mom would always stop. The first one I remember is seeing a woman jump out of a moving van. It looked like a pile of laundry flew out the door and exploded all over the road. That one messed me up.

I am kinda desensitized by it now but I still find it really strange I'm often looking at it as it happens.

I haven't seen many, although yesterday my car saved me by jamming on the brakes as a van I thought was giving way (yielding) sped behind me as I was reversing from a parking bay in the town centre.

I've always thought that if a driver regularly sees accidents occurring in their rear-view mirror, they might consider if they have done something to cause it.
Oddly, no, and I’ve driven (by my calculations) around a million miles in my life.

Most of it was in the rural areas and non-urban highways. And for quite a few years I drove - just drove - to avoid going mad. Limited escape.

I have unconsciously avoided several mass collisions, like a horrendous one in Atlanta, involving dozens and dozens of cars and trucks and motorcycles. I missed it by less than five minutes.

I had one serious wreck, when I was forced off the road by a drunk driver. The car rolled three times, and I had to crawl out a window to get out, but I didn’t need a bandaid. Incredible luck.

One I’ll never forget was 1989.

I was driving with my mom down a busy street. The car in the lane beside us was hit from behind by a transport truck.

The passenger was ejected through the windshield and all I saw were her legs and feet above the car as she went down onto the ground.

We didn’t have cell phones back then. My mom pulled into a nearby parking lot and I ran into an office and asked them to call 911.

I followed the news about the lady. She didn’t die but she had brain injuries but I didn’t find out the extent of that or any further information

Recently I have witnessed 2 motorcycle accidents. I really wish people would wear their helmets and protective gear. This was in town and I suppose just a little ride that turned into a mess. Motorcycles have always worried me on the road but now I really hate to see them coming. I’m scared for them.

@LavidaRaq My state recently allowed 'split laning' at lights and stop signs... it will cause more deaths as they abuse it and people openlcar doors or switch lanes not expecting them.

I just remembered one I forgot/repressed a bit. A pedestrian got hit by a car. I ran to her and asked her if she was ok because she was conscious and she said "I can't breathe". I always wondered what happened to her.

The driver, instead of rushing to the woman, just got on her phone.
I have been hit by cars, as a pedestrian, three times in my life.
And more recently, a too close call! It was my fault; which makes me ponder the veracity of my mind, and so on.
(Disclaimer: I was stone cold sober and lucid.)

So, in this regard, it's not a very exciting life...😳😵‍💫🙄...😭😭😭

I haven’t witnessed much, but I’ve been in a few. A couple were due to my inexperience at the time, but the rest were from freak accidents I just had the unfortunate luck of them falling on me. From my tie rods breaking while driving to my brakes giving out. Part of what makes me so anxious about driving.
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
@Ducky oh dang that would freak me out too. I had my brakes go out once and it was seriously scary but I was lucky to be near a field I could drive into and slow me down.
No, I can't say that I have. I'm surprised you've seen so many!
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
@MsSwan I find it pretty weird. I'm somehow looking at the whole thing.
@ScreamingFox Yes, it's weird. I'm sorry you experience this.
I havent seen an excessive amount. Ones i seen were bad. I always jump out to help. Usually its a bunch of us that do
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
No I haven't. I don't think I want to either.
Only the ones I've caused.
being · 36-40, F
No not much but I bet that not driving myself seriously reduces the possibility
Adrift · 61-69, F
It seems like every day there is at least one.
Alot of wrong way drivers.
