Do you often build your children up? Why do a lot of parents do this?

I just tell the truth. Sometimes I mention that my daughters can be a bit much, but most of the time they’re on their best behaviour.

Every chance. I’ve never bagged my kids.

It’s nice to hear positive things yes..?
Its not so much as 'build' as 'support', and confirm choices they make, difficult things they achieve and understand when they break.

You have to help them be proud of what they 'build' and achieve for themselves coz it seems the world just wants to tear it down.

Edit: i do think some parents 'baby' their children too much.
Kids do need a handle on reality, dealing with stress and knowing that failure happens.

I think it's great to build up confidence in your kids but it has to be realistic... Not everyone can be the best at something

@Convivial that's true. Many parents say their children are best at everything. I just admit that my children could not be the best, but they try to be, everytime.

@GunFinger and it's the trying part that is the most important part...
I build them up when they are down and bring them down to earth when they think they are hot shiz it’s a balance to keep them humble and encouraged. Real life is too tough for me to do just one and prepare them I must.

No kids here, but It's the parents job to build them up. And it's the world's job to try and crush them. If you don't give them a solid foundation, the world will succeed.
