I have a legitimate question here

If a person is born blind and never had slight in their life and they have a dream in their sleep. Can they see the dream like people with vision can?

I not trying to be funny or nothing, but honestly curious

The answer is that they cannot.

I’ll clarify, they can and do dream but there is no vision attached to it. I drove a blind person to appointments who lost his sight in his early 20s. We talked about this. He said in the years immediately following his loss of sight he did dream as he did when he had sight. That became less and less as time went on. 20+ years later he no longer can envision anything.

I believe they will dream in however they perceive the world. As a seeing person, I cannot imagine what form that would be but I imagine it would include much more of their other senses than I have when I dream. I have had dreams where I lose my sight where my peripheral vision starts to go black and then grows inward until all I have is a pinpoint of light until even that is gone. I usually wake shortly after that but I remember my focus changing from sight to sound and touch and my senses extending outward to try and feel the space around me to try and sense other objects. It is a very interesting experience but scary.

I'm going to say yes. My logic is that when I dream, my eyes aren't open, I'm picturing things from my memory.

While a blind person may not "see" the same image in their dream as you or I, I'm pretty sure they've also got some sort of mental idea of what's around them. So they could dream that surrounding again. To me that would be basically the same concept.

I would think not. When all they have is taste, feel, hearing, and smell, I do not know they would be able to dream like people with sight.

Of course, their dreams could be of what they think everything looks like based off of the senses they do have.
Their perception is altered, similar to a ND, so no, not like a Neurotypical.

It blew my mind when I found out not everyone dreams in colour 🤷🏼‍♀

I dream in both black & white and color
I think they'd just dream with other senses. Sound etc
