Is SW getting any better?

I ask the question because when Experience Project closed down I found similarworlds.com. relatetothat.com was an absolute abortion. SW can't compare to EP. But could be getting a little better. I need to know other people's thoughts. That's why I asked the question...
Musicman · 61-69, M
Sadly SW is steadily sliding down hill. The admin claims there are a couple thousand active users. All you need to do is look at the feed to know that isn't true. ☹️
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Musicman Well that’s probably true. But another major problem is that it’s impossible to access everything that’s been said, or even everything one’s friends have sad, at the same time. Twas ever thus here, but not on EP.
Convivial · 26-30, F
I think ep had more humour and wit.... Just my thoughts
SW-User
@Convivial I agree right
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Convivial It had more substance of all kinds - serious as well as humorous.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
Well considering you can't see people's posts until 3-4 days later and when you make a post there's minimal interaction and the amount of people trolling on genuine heartfelt posts, this doesn't feel like a safe place.

EP was rad. Lots of fun. I only come on SW when I'm low now. Because there are a few good people. But there's always some ass trying to make you feel bad. Popular users ignore everyone but their friends.

This is a last resort for me as an introvert who doesn't need much peopling.
This site is what you make of it. Put in the work and you can find amazing friends. Fuck around and you will find plenty of people willing to put you in your place. Be supportive and make friends. Have fun but be respectful. This place is a home/safe haven for a lot of folks. Its not EP, but in some aspects its a bit better. I loved EP and I Love SW because of the people here.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
This place is about done. Not much going on here anymore.
RedBaron · M
@hunkalove Bye. Don’t let the door hit ya where nature split ya on the way out.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
I’d say it’s because the culture is no longer real, along with all the artificial, “ hey look at me” social media sites that promote superficiality. SW is more on the real side, and EP was even more so. We have our fair share of imposters here, but generally speaking, SW is a better quality site than others, but quality is not appreciated by the culture these days.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Carissimi I agree with you.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
I came from EP too. I think you have to drive the discussions on here from time to time. And not just adult topics either but something else too with the idea that open ended questions may garner better responses.

I think there are niches here and people have an agenda. For instances various tribes on here focus on themes like

1) adult themes
2) politics
3) religion/ spirituality
4) depression
5) survey questions like do you like xyz
6) pets
7) and others

You kinda have to find your tribes here and be a thread creator from time to time. If you are waiting for someone else to make threads you like while complaining your sorta part of the issue.
MartinII · 70-79, M
No it’s getting worse. When it first opened it had lots of former EP members and relatively few restrictions. Many old members have left, the thought police have become more intrusive, really interesting posts are rare, and it’s even more difficult to use than it was at the beginning. Despite all that, I still log on most days and sometimes find interesting things and interesting people.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@MartinII I completely agree with you. ☹️
SW-User
No . Worse
The quality has steadily declined
I can't take this place seriously ever
originnone · 61-69, M
I think it's gotten mean spirited over the past month....The other thing is people don't give real answers to interesting questions. They try and be clever without any indication of being clever....
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@originnone Yes. They give meaningless short winded answers. I have witnessed the mental decline of many here. Signs of the times.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Zonuss I'm not sure all these people are that mean....I think they hide behind the anonymity of the internet. None of my friends know or care what my political views are, but they do know all my sports interests....just the opposite of here.
If they wanted to spice it up a tad....... Bring back Anonymous Confessions like there was on EP.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
It's ok. It's less about writing about complex subjects and feelings and finding like minded people.

More like a typical social media site now. The design is weird, posts disappear and reappear and I cannot fathom how the algorithm works other than to say it shows you stuff that you have clicked on or responded to before.

Lots of lonely hearts, catfish and trolls, and that was true for EP as well.
No. It peaked right before the push for users from the various deleted sites. Fortunately, many of us developed friendships and camaraderie before it went south.
JestAJester · 31-35, M
I think you mean absolute abomination lol. There are times its decent, but at night is when the savage animals come out to play
crownedwithlaurel97 · 26-30, F
using abortion as an adjective is crazy lmfao
MartinII · 70-79, M
@crownedwithlaurel97 Sorry to be pedantic, but the poster used it as a noun - misguidedly, I think.
Prisoner1972 · 51-55, MVIP
@crownedwithlaurel97 The only way I could describe it was abortion. By the way abortion is a noun not an adjective. If you were there for EP's demise, and if you attempted to substitute EP with relatetothat.com, then you'll get it. RTT was an abortion.
Adstar · 56-60, M
I can only state that my experience in EP was superior to my experiences is SW..
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Its like EP and has the same problems and benefits but smaller.
@helenS - sorry I'm replying somewhere else, Sandwitch seems to have blocked me🤷.

I remember that. You could type "the a" or "and a" in, and you could get a way fuller feed.

I REALLY don't get the way it is now . Is it some torturous experiment to try and see how much we'll put up with ?
Why make a feed WORSE?

It's truly making the experience here less fun . ....and it's forcibly MAKING cliques . If we only see the same small group of people, doesn't that push particular users together ?
And keep us away from potentially meeting others ?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@OogieBoogie It's a social conditioning experiment. Needless to say that this place has caused the mental decline of many users here and has reopened the wounds and trauma that they already had. A few have healed but this usually happens when the person has had an awakening or leaves the site for a while or permanently . They simply cannot handle what the machine has forced upon them. Social media can be good and bad, it just depends on how you utilize it in your daily lives. However some just abuse it because they themselves have been abused. The experiment itself becomes the reality that many create it to be. It becomes a monster. It becomes something too big for some to handle. It's just like the Twilight Zone. Its far more real than you think it is. 🙂
@Zonuss oh I agree on this completely !
One decides what one chooses to reply to , what one posts, and what one chooses to say.

True we can't control everyone, but we can control ourselves ....and it's very easy to 'walk away'.

Ive watched this place change so much over the years. Some for the good, some for the bad.
I do sometimes feel it is still an experiment .

And you're right ...it does become some sort of reality ....for some, too much of a reality .

It seems it's in our nature to prefer to change our environment than ourselves .🤷
AuRevoir · 36-40, M
Community wise?

No…

Feature wise… It’s give and take.. for every good thing they add, they seem to manage to take away 1 good thing as well.. the messy and inconsistent main page’s feed is still a problem in my opinion… it was something that didn’t need to be fixed, that they messed with that bothers most people.. Some do appreciate it though..
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I think EP was more intuitive, normally you didn't see topics from groups you weren't subscribed to

whereas on SW, people are all over the place; nothing really gets categorized

would be much simpler & cleaner if we could block posts/users by user defined key words/phrases
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
No it seems a lot less active, feed is dead, it's becoming a fetish/sex site for a lot of people so what's in the feed tends to be weird.

I don't make serious posts much anymore as they don't get much response 🤷
It's hard to say . There are positives and negatives . So many changes have happened it's not the SW it once was ....but I hope it's redeemable .
This was once a buzzing place . A feed so full it was 10 posts a minute easy.
But it had it's drawbacks....50 groups all on the same thing .
The feed was once divided into 2 : posts and questions ....then they smooshed them together and most loved that .

Then ....the big changes came . The response emojis was good, the new groups was a really saddening thing ...we watched all our personality drain away from them. Improvements were made for gif and picture sizes that everyone loved , but then the feed got it's algorithm and shrunk what people could see to less than a 1/4 or more of what we were used to .
And that hurt this place the most .

We're still complaining about it.

If we got it back ....my hope is we can get part of our spirit we had back .
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Yep. It's more relaxing than EP. We all retired
RedBaron · M
How do you measure such a thing?
Fairydust · F
The newsfeed is terrible.
Better than what? Or when?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
No. It's gotten worse over time. Blame society for the decline of class integrity, respect, and love. This is our world.
This is our reality.

I arrived here over a year ago and things have been on an upswing ever since

@SandWitch wow .. Well said
@SandWitch the reason why the feed is so poor is that you are only seeing an algorithmic section of it .
This was implemented over a year ago and had caused many long time users to leave .

I remember a time when the feed was so thick and fast it was seconds between posts.
It was chronologically structured and so much easier to use....and enjoyable .

With such a great influx of material to choose from, it made it more fun because you could find more posts that inspired you .

Now the feed is waaaaaay thinner . I'd guess, ...maybe a tenth(?) of what it was .

Plus we lost all our really personalized groups, which was a shame and people felt offended when that happened, as they were male by users .

So there is a reason why you don't see many dedicated users , they left. They left because the community they helped build got cut, sifted, leftovers smooshed together and renamed and then damned by the algorithm so only a tiny part of it got through.

It hurt them badly .

Investment has nothing to do with phone access and such - it's a personal thing ....we had phone access way before the change in culture , and it wasn't a problem .
If anything ....SW was busyier and had more posts than ever .
And THAT'S why people became invested - they met more people, jad more replies , saw more posts : it was more engaging.
helenS · 36-40, F
@OogieBoogie Yes, and it's still a mystery why they ruined the feed. There used to be some tricks to obtain a complete chronological feed (by typing "the" in the search field, for example) but they disabled that too. I have no idea why, they never told us. It's an "eat it or go" approach.
