Do you scrimp or splurge...on what and why?

...just curious about how people save and spend their money!
Majorsite · 61-69, M
In todays recession, I have to seriously scrimp, Thanks Joe Biden, You worthless moron !
@Majorsite Yeah..........bummer he did that (and Ukraine isn't even in the picture).........and of course the $17 TRILLION trump alone added during his 4years of playing golf didn't add a dime to that, huh?

irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
$31.3 Trillion now. Won't it be loads of fun when it all comes crashing down? Of course Biden/Powell/Yellen may be long gone by then so I guess that makes it ok.

@Majorsite

If I buy something I buy the best I can afford... but I don't want much so I don't buy much
so neither scrimp or splurge really
1Dogma · F
@Rambler LOL, I just said similar line to my comment for helsbels, what a coincidental thought!

everything is in moderation, great!
Rambler · M
@1Dogma the key to satisfaction :)

Considering that I am an Economist, and that I work as an accountant, the organization of money is easy for me... I save money easily, especially if I have a plan how I will spend it 😅
1Dogma · F
@DaughteroftheMoon let's go!
do you need my credit card?
DaughteroftheMoon · 26-30, F
It would be desirable 😅 @1Dogma
1Dogma · F
@DaughteroftheMoon I bet! 😁
Ontheroad · M
I live what I call judiciously. I save some, spend some and have enough to splurge on the couple of people I hold dear. I very seldom spend on myself... mostly just things I need, but when I do, I tend to let it rip!
1Dogma · F
@Ontheroad you manage your money very well
I salute you!
hats off
Ontheroad · M
@1Dogma believe me, I wasn't always that way, especially before the kids got out on their own, but that wasn't so much a lack of planning and managing money, it was due to how friggin' expensive kids/teenagers are! 😜
1Dogma · F
@Ontheroad true.... I hear yah!
i dont spend much on myself. if i do decide to spend some money, it usually goes towards goin on a trip to the mountains or the beach. i enjoy goin on trips to go hiking or just spending time with Lady Crush at the beach. i also enjoy goin out to eat. usually eating Italian or Mexican.
1Dogma · F
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy NICE!
I love the beach too, Italian or Mexican food.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
I have a problem.

I cringe when my kids toss a beer can in the garbage when I know I can get a dime for it…
But I won’t bat an eye on a fourteen dollar fishing lure that I’m going to lose on the first snag. 😂
1Dogma · F
@LunarOrbit you love fishing...
do you live near the fishing spot?
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@1Dogma Yeah. Too close! Lol
1Dogma · F
@LunarOrbit you just go there on foot!
wow, I envy you!
JustNik · 51-55, F
Some things I don’t mind spending on, others irk me. Most of my clothes come from a thrift store, but I’ll pay a couple hundred for shoes or a coat that will serve me well.
1Dogma · F
@JustNik I skip on bags,
shoes...oh well!
love them in black, beige, red etc.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Guitars and guitar related stuff mostly
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@1Dogma hmmm
There's 26 in this house but at least 2 others on long term / permanent loan elsewhere
1Dogma · F
@OldBrit music enthusiast!
do you have a band or sing solo with your guitar?
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@1Dogma neither nowadays I'm "retired".I've done both over the years
I spend most on travel
I spend least on my car or going out when I’m not traveling
1Dogma · F
@BiasForAction a traveler indeed!
love traveling but it's expensive.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
Scrimp but the kids are wife splurge it !!!
1Dogma · F
@Barny52 ouch!
you work hard and they just spend it?!
Barny52 · 56-60, M
@1Dogma it’s called being a parent !!
1Dogma · F
@Barny52 yeah, but sometimes it sucks
Fluffybull · F
I scrimp on things that aren't so important to me so I can spend on those that are ☺️
1Dogma · F
@Fluffybull good choices!
Patientlywaiting · 46-50, FVIP
Save on vegetables I buy wonky or bulk cause we eat loads. I buy basic canned tomatoes and passata instead of Jars of pre made sauces and I make my own curries etc. I splurge on some skin and hair care products and makeup.
I make my own cleaning products, aromatherapy oils, water, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda rather than buy branded goods.
1Dogma · F
@Patientlywaiting I also use natural cleaning aids, vinegar and soda plus lemon

I love make-up, we're a girly girl!
helsbels · 26-30, F
I do both... I save for so long, then 'reward' myself and spend more in the space of a week or two on luxuries than I saved in the whole year up to now! 😩

Just recently I bought new curtains (paid half), new jeans and 2 outfits, an electric toothbrush, and tickets to a show 🙈
1Dogma · F
@helsbels that's a great splurge on the things you love
we only live once so buy the best that our money can afford 😉
helsbels · 26-30, F
@1Dogma I am terrible for 'saving' whatever amount, then using that to justify spending 5 times more. Like recently I sold a load of old clothes and made about £170 but the cost of the things I mentioned above is way above that 😂

It's like I'm saying each time 'I can spend £100 on this because of that £170' but I'll use that excuse three times over.
1Dogma · F
@helsbels I can relate!
WillaKissing · 56-60
I splurge when buying tools, building materials, and equipment I buy for my farm/home use. And I save the rest to splurge on my cross-dressing Attire.
1Dogma · F
@WillaKissing a strong handyman
and a crossdresser on the side
interesting!
WillaKissing · 56-60
@1Dogma Absolutely!
Lumberjack70 · 56-60, M
I’ve been splurging on food for my university kids. When I go in to visit, I’m buying groceries and taking them out for lunch. I’m happy I can treat them!
1Dogma · F
@Lumberjack70 what a great dad!
BarbossasHusband · 36-40, M
I splurge by spending my money on alcohol and loved ones. After paying all my bills, ofc. That's always the first thing I do on payday.
1Dogma · F
@BarbossasHusband I love vodka and red wine!
I buy them on payday too.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
This weekend i splurged. It was fun. Lol!
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@1Dogma Lmao! A bunch of stuff for the house. Also stuff to add to my christmas town and new towels. Lol!oh and also a toilet and new faucet.
1Dogma · F
@Eddiesolds oh I love home furnishing!
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@1Dogma me too.lol!
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
doing my best to save by gardening, a great way to save if you have the room
1Dogma · F
@Subsumedpat you sell the plants or harvest your own food?
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@1Dogma just for myself
Iwillwait · M
I scrimp on food, and splurge on Laundry services.
1Dogma · F
@Iwillwait really, you don't like pushing the buttons of the washing machine
Iwillwait · M
@1Dogma dry cleaning.
I scrimp and he splurges..
1Dogma · F
@SStarfish unfair!
still okay for you?
Not ok but cant be helped.. @1Dogma
SW-User
I save tax money, stupid stimulus money and extra on my paycheck. When something comes along... a couch and love seat set, dining table and chairs, etc... I splurge and get really nice sets. I want them to look good and last a lifetime. lol I think I'm done splurging for quite a while again.
Ontheroad · M
@SW-User smart... buying the less expensive stuff usually means you'll end up replacing it sooner and usually it's not what you really wanted.
SW-User
@1Dogma I buy used....amazing furniture that will outlast any of the modern stuff made from pressboard and such. My furniture has class without the NEW price tag. lol
1Dogma · F
@SW-User wise buyer, indeed!
