Considering that I am an Economist, and that I work as an accountant, the organization of money is easy for me... I save money easily, especially if I have a plan how I will spend it 😅
I live what I call judiciously. I save some, spend some and have enough to splurge on the couple of people I hold dear. I very seldom spend on myself... mostly just things I need, but when I do, I tend to let it rip!
@1Dogma believe me, I wasn't always that way, especially before the kids got out on their own, but that wasn't so much a lack of planning and managing money, it was due to how friggin' expensive kids/teenagers are! 😜
i dont spend much on myself. if i do decide to spend some money, it usually goes towards goin on a trip to the mountains or the beach. i enjoy goin on trips to go hiking or just spending time with Lady Crush at the beach. i also enjoy goin out to eat. usually eating Italian or Mexican.
Some things I don’t mind spending on, others irk me. Most of my clothes come from a thrift store, but I’ll pay a couple hundred for shoes or a coat that will serve me well.
I cringe when my kids toss a beer can in the garbage when I know I can get a dime for it… But I won’t bat an eye on a fourteen dollar fishing lure that I’m going to lose on the first snag. 😂
I do both... I save for so long, then 'reward' myself and spend more in the space of a week or two on luxuries than I saved in the whole year up to now! 😩
Just recently I bought new curtains (paid half), new jeans and 2 outfits, an electric toothbrush, and tickets to a show 🙈
@1Dogma I am terrible for 'saving' whatever amount, then using that to justify spending 5 times more. Like recently I sold a load of old clothes and made about £170 but the cost of the things I mentioned above is way above that 😂
It's like I'm saying each time 'I can spend £100 on this because of that £170' but I'll use that excuse three times over.
Save on vegetables I buy wonky or bulk cause we eat loads. I buy basic canned tomatoes and passata instead of Jars of pre made sauces and I make my own curries etc. I splurge on some skin and hair care products and makeup. I make my own cleaning products, aromatherapy oils, water, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda rather than buy branded goods.
I’ve been splurging on food for my university kids. When I go in to visit, I’m buying groceries and taking them out for lunch. I’m happy I can treat them!
@Majorsite Yeah..........bummer he did that (and Ukraine isn't even in the picture).........and of course the $17 TRILLION trump alone added during his 4years of playing golf didn't add a dime to that, huh?
$31.3 Trillion now. Won't it be loads of fun when it all comes crashing down? Of course Biden/Powell/Yellen may be long gone by then so I guess that makes it ok.
I save tax money, stupid stimulus money and extra on my paycheck. When something comes along... a couch and love seat set, dining table and chairs, etc... I splurge and get really nice sets. I want them to look good and last a lifetime. lol I think I'm done splurging for quite a while again.
@SW-User smart... buying the less expensive stuff usually means you'll end up replacing it sooner and usually it's not what you really wanted.

@1Dogma I buy used....amazing furniture that will outlast any of the modern stuff made from pressboard and such. My furniture has class without the NEW price tag. lol
