How many visits is acceptable from a landlord???

He emailed and visited me on Monday to check the progress of the skip... he emailed me again this afternoon - and he's coming again tomorrow afternoon, again under the guise of checking progress on the skip.

At this point, these "checks" feel like more of an inconvenience than they are a help to me because it means that I'm not going to be able to focus on what he wants me to do and I've got to stop and keep an eye out on him visiting because he won't ring the doorbell like a normal person.

Depends on what country you are in. Here in Ireland there are laws where the landlord has to let you know he's visiting, and not just let himself in either.
@aguyonline I'm in England. They don't have a key, so they aren't letting themselves in... just being a nuisance with emailing me and popping in every week.

@HootyTheNightOwl Okay in your post you said he doesn't ring the doorbell like a normal person so assumed you meant he just lets himself in

"checking progress on the skip"

I'm afraid I don't understand what this means.
@DunningKruger Sort of...

@HootyTheNightOwl And the landlord cares about it filling up for... a reason?
@DunningKruger Yes... it needed doing - but, the point I'm at now is where I need to throw some bigger pieces of furniture in. I need time to reorganise some stuff around to make room to manoeuvre these pieces around.

For example, I need to get the bed in the bedroom out (it has collapsed) and the bed in my hallway in. At the same time, I'm going to throw out my sofa and chair and drag in a new one.

I can't do that if the landlord is taking up time that I currently need since the skip goes back on Monday.

It'd be better if they just left me alone until then and do a property inspection after that to see what progress I have made rather than slowing me down while I'm actively working on what they want me to do. It's not like I'm asking for something they need to go to great lengths to accommodate me on.

That’s kind of unnecessary and disturbing. I can quite relate to this with my previous flat..a landlord with a severe eye sore 😅😅 his cctv in all corners are not enough that made me think he is a nosy person.

That does seem like a lot, almost like surveillance.
@blindbob It was the same last week, too - only last week, he was advising me to keep going with what I'm doing at a pace that was going to confine me to bed if I had kept it up... I wouldn't have managed to have done everything that I have achieved this week if I had tried to do what he said last week instead of taking a weekend break.

The only difference is that last week, I actually needed an extension on the time that I have the skip for and it was one of his messages that prompted me to ask for the extra time.

He was able to get me the extra week that I needed and I paid him back by achieving a lot more than I thought that I could do. It's still not perfect, I admit that, but I have gotten rid of a lot of rubbish that needed to go.

Now the skip is almost full and I still have some big bits of furniture that still need to go into it before Monday.

@SW-User Yeah... at this point, I'm thinking pretty much that myself. The part I left out of the question is that this guy knows soon to be ex from before I met him.

Soon to be ex used to cart waste from an engineering company he used to work for... and the landlord/engineer remembers this.
