It rather depends on the person. Sometimes you can have a reasoned argument that can help your own viewpoint and is helpful and enjoyable for both parties. Other times characters are so objectionable, it is better to just ignore them or as a last resort block them.

The way I handle it -

Normally I just "walk away" from the debate, figuring okay, not worth fighting about. I do not block though, I figure maybe we will get on better in the future.

If it is someone I really do not care for and am trying to get them to block me, I just keep arguing til they block.

For deleting posts - the only ones I delete are my own threads or responses sometimes, like if I am embarrassed later or think the crap might hit the fan.
Ideally, consider the other viewpoint. Sadly, that isn't the standard though.

Always the first, and that's why I enjoy our disagreements.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@sumkindamunster] suppose it depends on the disagreement . if it is a genuine disagreement of opinion fair enough you cand accept that and agree to differ .if they are rude and aggresive this is when it becomes more dangerous . i think you have option try not to rise to this difficult as it is .just end the exchange of views there as to carry on will make it more antagonistic

That depends on who and what I am responding to.

Usually the "woke / triggered" crowd does the deleting and blocking...
@CabinFever Generalizing, stereotyping...maybe it is just people who are annoyed and don't have time for the INANE. It's as easy as that. Since when does labeling someone "woke" make you the cool kid on the block. Such little thoughts here.
CabinFever · M
@MsAlaineEYes "Cool kid on the block"...uh...thanks? The "woke" moniker is more of a self proclamation. I'm just pointing out the obvious.

I would say consider the view point. Though not all viewpoints were created equally 😂
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@SW-User I believe you would sir.

What's appropriate, and what usually happens, are two different things. 😬

@CopperCicada Hm, I don't totally agree with all of this.
The purpose of discussion or debate used to be to test the veracity of one’s beliefs, or persuasion.
I agree here. In addition, I like to challenge other's on their beliefs to see how strong they are. If all it takes is a few pointed questions and a snarky comment or two to throw you off and upset you...well...how strong are those beliefs then?
To change the beliefs of others.

Don't agree. And in fact, if this is your sole purpose, you probably aren't going to have a good time. In my experience, this only serves to galvanize those opinions.

I see you have returned and unblocked me. It's nice to see you.

Hope you have a better experience this time around.

@CopperCicada I'd agree that is the ideal. As you say, few people are willing to be that open or genuine.

Personally that doesn't bother me that much. You can still learn a lot about people and their beliefs based on what they say and how they behave.

Disagreements are fine. Letting such disagreements impact your emotional well being is not fine.

@LordShadowfire Making you aware that I will report you for violations of the TOS is threatening to get you removed?
@SumKindaMunster You literally told me you were going to go through my comments and start reporting.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire I did yes. How is that threatening to get you removed? If anything, it's you that will get yourself removed.

@LordShadowfire Well that should be enough reports to the admins for today. Thanks for stalking my profile, I am sure you will be gone soon after this little stunt.
