@pearllederman: Taking initiative and showing responsibility is going to be seen as a plus with any company that hires you. You want to be seen as a commodity, not a burden.
If there's absolutely no way at all for you to get to work, consider calling the office and talking with your boss or direct supervisor about your transportation issues. Start some communication about this. Let them know you don't drive, and that you're needing consistent and reliable transportation to and from work, if just for now. Let them know you're working on an independent and reliable means of getting there. Ask them if they would be willing to put out a memo to their staff and employees, asking if there's anyone who lives in your vicinity, who would be willing to supply the transportation you need. Let them know you would be glad to compensate your driver. Show them you really want to be there when you're supposed to (if you really do). Companies WANT reliable, dependable employees. Show them that's who you are. I think they'll do what they can to help out. It's not a lot of work for them to put out a memo and/or casually ask around on your behalf. GO FOR IT!!! You need to start looking for ways to get there rather than finding reasons you can't. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT THIS JOB??? GET BUSY!!!
