The house by the lake

The giant octopus reached out from the sea onto the deck of the galleon, plucking the helpless seaman from his post. The lady of the ship, tho an unlucky omen on a sailing vessel, dove out, knife in teeth, to save him. She slashed to and fro, severing tentacle after tentacle, until at last, the seaman was secure in her arms. The crew gave up a loud hurrah as they were hoisted back on board. And a grand party in the officer's mess was held, with the lady of the ship as the guest of honor.

Upon reaching shore, to show his gratitude, the seaman invested his entire family fortune to fulfill the lady's grandest dream: a house in the woods, by a still lake. And so, she lived happily ever after forever more.
