I’ve grown limits over time in what I’ll express or give, but the caring is never dependent on reciprocation. Not prioritizing me does not make someone a bad or unlikable person.

Because I care about others more than I care about myself...

Because you commit.... and sometimes that commitment fails and you hold on longer than you should.

I’ve learned that while I can’t always control how I feel, I can control my actions. So, I feel what I feel. Love doesn’t die easily for me. But I can still keep my distance for my own well-being.

me caring for someone does not always mean I expect the feeling to be reciprocated. Not saying I am a doormat but there are some people I will always care for, regardless

Good question. I've wondered that many times over the past few years.

Eventually, I just "forget" that they even exist.

Even though they don't care, I often still do.

I think sometimes the good memories keep us emotionally hostage.

There's different types of caring; well for me there is anyway. I don't care enough for my ex that I would want to be involved with him ever again, but I do care enough about him to want him to be successful and happy because we still have children together, and he needs to support them. Our children's happiness and wellbeing means more to me than anything in this world.

Habit. I grew up around girls who were older than me, taller than me, and ignored me. So who was I most attracted to in college? An older, taller woman who ignored me.
