Have you been one of those people

who have burnt all of their older notebooks
or decluttered to the point of bare minimum possessions?

LOL. Not me! I'm still trying to reduce my wardrobe.and get rid of all those things I have kept just in case. I just hate to see usable things go to landfill so it takes ages to try to find someone who might make use of them first before giving up and throwing them out anyway.
Penny · 46-50, F
yes up to a point. i am a minimalist at heart but have too many hobbies and like art on my walls to be called a minimalist. i stopped obsessively decluttering because things are getting expensive to replace. but i still do declutter some stuff just not nearly as much.
No. But i plan to be.
Life is too busy atm.
This summer i hope to use my holidays to start chucking stuff out.

My life has changed direction in the last few years and id love to let everything with the past, and all the plans with that life, go.

No but I have lost quite a few bits of media over time because I didn't care enough about them.

I am a minimalist by nature, which means if I can't keep it stored in my head, then I don't keep it stored in a notebook on a shelf because I won't remember where I put the notebook.

I have a rule in my house and that rule is, if I haven't worn something at least once in the previous 12 months, then it goes to the Salvation Army at Christmas time.

When it comes to generalized 'stuff' that we keep in case we want to be reminded of our past events no matter how good or bad they were, the only time we are ever aware of the contents of that box is when we drag it upstairs to load it onto the moving van when we're moving to our next home.

Anytime you see a big moving van driving down the highway, just remember that it's packed to the roof with stuff that never got unpacked from the last 5 moves that same family made, so they just loaded it up once again and added more stuff to it until they needed a 40 foot trailer to carry it all.

Moving vans therefore, are full of un-finished or un-addressed business in a person's life which that person doesn't actually want to face nor address in any way in the near-future, which is why those boxes won't ever get unpacked at the new residence.

I should. I have stacks apon stacks of old note books I can't let go of because I'm too sentimental
being · 36-40, F
@caPnAhab same. But I haven't touched in few years now. And I want to start anew. I think it is time.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
I’m working on it. Realizing that when I go no one will want this stuff.
being · 36-40, F
@SageWanderer but what about you? Do you still want all those things?
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@being Some things that really matter like my daily journals, photo albums certificates. Most of the rest is memorabilia which are things that take up space, most in storage and the pictures are sufficient.
being · 36-40, F
@SageWanderer autumn is a good time I think to light some fires and warm ourselves, along with releasing things...
I do it once every so often. It's cathartic. When my husband first moved over we spent a weekend burning my old journals
being · 36-40, F
@V00doo I would love to do that. I am tempted more than ever......
@being It was symbolic. Burned the shit about my ex with my soon to be husband
being · 36-40, F
@V00doo it sounds like, the right thing to do.
I might ask my sister to accompany me. Or friends.. It's good to have company.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I`m getting there.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
No, I would never do that. I even printscreen my posts on social media before deleting them. 😅
YoMomma ·
I wish.. my place is super cluttered right now 😐
Elessar · 31-35, M
Yeah, periodically I get rid of old stuff
being · 36-40, F
@tobynshorty any regrets?
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@being nah i just got tired of material baggage.
being · 36-40, F
@tobynshorty yes I can understand that! I also love the spaciousness and the freshness
