I tend to agree with your sentiments regarding being a landlord.

Donald Trump's Late father Fred Trump and Fred's mother, both immigrants to the USA from west Germany in the early 1930s, made a business out of being 'slum landlords' in Lower Manhattan NY.

This business plan was spearheaded by Donald's grandmother during the Great Depression of which SHE made herself the President of their property management company and she assigned her son Fred (Donald's father) the role of Superintendent of Property Management (landlord).

The name SHE named her upstart property management company was called "Trump Corp".

To this day, Trump Corp is still functioning as a property management company based in Lower Manhattan who are currently running a vacancy rate of 80% across the full spectrum of their commercial and private residential property holdings.
