When the bill is 30 dollars and you hand them 100, then they give you back 30 dollars.

Yeah, that happened today.

Yeah well something like that happened to me. I went and got the manager when I discovered what happened. He took the cashier and the money tray to the back and handed me the missing change. And fired the cashier. She was sneaky with her technique but it went past me what she was doing at the time. I discovered it when I went to another store, should have had more cash.

Summer help. Always count your change
@AthrillatheHunt I said…. 100-30 is not 30. He looked at me like I was from Mars. I looked at him like he was the dumbest motherfucker in 3rd grade.
AthrillatheHunt · 56-60, M
@ReptilianFromPlanetCrush I know that look ! 😂
lissah · 36-40, F
Yeah like at the grocery store they owed me some dollars and 90 cents. The kid gave me back 9 dimes. I said is there a reason you gave me all dimes? He said yeah i owed you 90 cents 🤦‍♀
Lopaka55 · 70-79, M
Yeah, a 133% tip is a tad excessive....
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
Umm, I would call that insurrection day, because the insurrection would start with receiving the wrong change! LOL
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
We are screwed.
@JimboSaturn the next time i go back to that store...... i will be very surprised if he is on the register...... and it was a pharmacy register. thats kinda scary that this dude is also giving out meds. 😳
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@ReptilianFromPlanetCrush whoa wtf? scary stuff. "Ok son, I'll just give you $100 and you give me the opiods, no, here's 5 $20's give me back $10 and I'll give you $30K, then lets switch the 10's with fives, and give me all the money and drugs, thanks kid"
@JimboSaturn i gotta remember this for later. LOLOL
Musicman · 61-69, M
Today's generation. 🤦 They can't even do simple math. ☹
Musicman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti If she got the job thinking she could steal from customers then she is better off without it.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Musicman She had a suppressed grin on her face and said “YOU have a good day” as she pressed some of the change into my hand. I thought that was weird but went on to the next store. In hindsight I think that grin was a “I got lucky and tonight we party” type of grin.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti Yep! She thought she had a sucker, but you caught it. Good for you! 🙂
If it's a coordinated setup there is little you can do about it. Ask for the manager and he/she may respond by checking the cash register and if no $100 bill there he/she is caught in the middle with the risk of a false accusation about the waiter and will likely suggest that you are mistaken. If you take it further then you may be at risk. In America, everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. So where is the proof that you handed the waiter $100?
@Heartlander every register has a camera directly over it. The cashier did admit his mistake and give me the right change eventually. Still if anyone thinks 100-30 = 30 then their time on the register will be short lived.
Was with friend at store, total came to $18.05, she handed him $20.05, (you know - to make it easy)...

.....he turned into an npc instantly. Its like he went into loop mode.

She's a teacher for 7 and 8 yr olds. She showed him the irrefutable math.
The vastness of the void swam behind his eyes...
... he rang his manager.

Dude was like 23

🤦‍♀
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@OogieBoogie Oh ya that fucks them up big time.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
It's not even math(s): it's basic arithmetic. 🤪
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Is that poor level of basic arithmetic common or was that an isolated mistake?

Perhaps by someone never taught to count change by counting up from the sales price to the amount handed over?
@ArishMell its supposed to be a full proof system. you put in the amount the customer gives you and it tells you the amount to give back. the problem lies when the cashier just hits cash tender without entering in an amount. LOLOL
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ReptilianFromPlanetCrush I see. I'm surprised it's possible to do that, to prevent mistakes by innumerate staff as in this case, but also to make short-changing harder.
OMG. 🤦‍♂ I presume you corrected them. Some people wouldn't have even noticed.
@PhoenixPhail I always count my change. Especially these days.
HumanEarth · F
Sucks when you dont catch the moment at the register. Once you walk away - neither side can prove it
@HumanEarth I’m not a genius by any means, but I can do basic math. LOL
NeddyKelly · M
@HumanEarth at the end of the shift she/he would have extra money in the till plus they would be on video
HumanEarth · F
@NeddyKelly But by then it will be too late and he would be out the cash no matter what
Tell us you flunked math class without telling us you flunked math class...

I suppose he was hoping you wouldn't NOTICE!!! (If we assume he was dishonest)

It's worse, somehow, if he was HONEST! In that case, his poor, tiny little brain was stuck on the number 30...and couldn't move away from it.
