If you had to do some prison time would you rather serve it being around the other inmates or choose to be in solitary the whole time?

@Punxi i have learned how to survive in prison. but, if i do need some time alone, i know exactly what i need to do to get there. LOL

@MayorOfCrushtown Irony...or perhaps not is the resemblance of two institutions: Mental and Correctional.
@Punxi we have a mental health unit in our institution and from what i have heard, many of them have gone back and forth between prison mental health unit and the mental institution down the road.

@MayorOfCrushtown I work in an adult lock down mental health facility.

At times we administer Restrictive Intervention. An umbrella term that includes involuntary seclusion and restraint.

Having watched enough prison movies I understand our verbage is the same....we call it The Hole.
@Punxi whenever i go down to the solitary unit, regardless of the day or night, there are always guys yelling and hollaring at each other, and the echo is terrible. have no idea how they understand each other, just sounded like a bunch of jibberish. LOL there are some dudes who have been in solitary for years and years. one guy who has been in solitary for twenty years without an infraction...... he killed three inmates on separate occasions when he first got locked up. they are basically scared to let him back in general pop for fear he will do it again.

Damn.

I couldn't begin to lay out the psychological deterioration of solitude the likes of that.

In the end it's the legal bureaucracy that divides the two perhaps.

A prison sentence might be handed down in one fell swoop, while long term internment in an asylum in and of itself can take years.
