Over the past 80 odd years, people all across the developed world have gotten less socially connected. Hundreds of millions of people have moved away from city centers, out into the suburbs and rural areas. The rise of in-home entertainment has replaced hanging out at public parks, movie theatres, malls, arcades, etc. People have become more isolated, more socially anxious, more depressed, and overall less happy and amenable to social interaction. The health impacts are measurable and massive.
I don't fault you if you live an unsociable life. I kind of do too. But I do think it's harmful, for everyone, to treat that trend as a fun little quirky personal quirk as opposed to a social ill ravaging our societies.
