Really depends on how much money you have saved, your skills and the job market. I would imagine all the other people that were laid off with you will be trying to get the same jobs as you, so you best be one of the first to apply.

Getting laid off in an economic downturn was the best thing to ever happen to me as far as work is concerned. We had to scramble for a while, but we ended up where we needed to be.
