What's a disturbing or disgusting fact you know?

I'll start:

Michaelangelo, the guy who painted the ceiling in the Sixtinth Chapel, wore stockings made of dog skin.
He wore them for months at a time, so by the time he finally took them off, his skin would come off aswell.

A fun one I know is that in Victorian England, mummies were used in medicine.

Yes. Mummified people. As in they ingested bits of dried human, and that is the reason for the current rarety of mummies.
