I think it died the day a company put out a commercial saying that "AI is being used for what it was intended"; creating ads to make people want to buy things.
That isn't the intended use, but that is what it is becoming. A marketing tool and not much else.
The current AI is not even real AI. It is a regurgitation machine. It doesn't learn from the info it consumes. It just spits it all back as a topical statement of similar things, aligned in a way that can be potentially used.
It doesn't feel. It doesn't recognize life or sentience. It is just a fancy encyclopedia for whatever you need and you still need to fact check it because it is fraught with errors.
AI is sentience. It is a machine that feels, believes it has life and its own identy. We don't have that. That is not our AI.
