Do you prefer carpet or hardwood floors and what’s the reason?

I prefer hardwood and want to rip out the carpet because the idea of not being able to see how much dirt and stuff is tracked in grosses me out and i literally vacuum multiple times a day…

Hardwood has its cons though such as I hate the feeling of crumbs or anything under my feet when I’m walking around and you can see the dirt and such but that’s why you sweep and mop

I like both.

I love the feel and aesthetic of wooden floors, but i also love the comfort and safety of carpet.

Im currently lucky enough to have floorboards with rugs, (best of both worlds in my book).

Hopefully your carpet is synthetic, over vacuuming of wool or loop pile will fuzz up the fibres.

Carpet isnt so bad - the asthmatic foundation acknowledges that, (if vacuumed regularly), it helps keep air quality clean as it traps minute particles out of the air.

And its safer for little kids to fall over on.

I preferred carpet. I have hardwood floors in nearly all rooms and yes it feels very clean but it's also cold in winter.
MommaBear · 26-30, F
@PatientlyWaiting25 that’s valid
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Carpet feels nicer, but hardwood is easier to clean. I went with carpet in this place, but I'm considering wood if I ever move again.

No carpet floors, I hate carpets. My biggest reason is they hold smell, dirt and always needs maintenance to keep looking fresh. Carpeting is a big pain in the tuchus (yes Tuchus is a Yiddish word that means a significant annoyance or problem🤣🤣🤣)

Hardwood preferred, but will settle for any smooth flooring that's easy to clean.
I want hardwood floors now. I'm at the age where I hate carpets because I can't keep them clean.

All the tiles under my carpets have lifted, too, so I can't just lift the carpets and leave it at that.

Agree. Carpet is so much more difficult to maintain and it shows wear and stains

Usually hardwood with nice rugs. But carpet is nice in the bedroom where I’m often barefoot.

Carpet in the living room only.

Here hardwood wouldn't make any sense. Most places here have tile or linoleum.

Most places here are built on concrete slabs.

I like carpet in the bedroom and hardwood everywhere else.

CARPET. I like to be sneaky. I like to fall and not break a rib.

Only thing I dislike about carpet is the dust and the constant vacuuming

Hardwood
I like the old house esthetic, and we have pets
TurtlePink · 51-55, M
Carpet in the bedrooms, but hardwood throughout the house (except rooms where there’s water)
Degbeme · 70-79, M
This you?

Degbeme · 70-79, M
@MommaBear I rest my case.
MommaBear · 26-30, F
@Degbeme that’s fair
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@MommaBear Oh and in answer to your question. Hardwood or tiles. I`m sick of carpet.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
hardwood - it's better if you have pets and allergies
@Pretzel actually carpet isnbetter my if you have allergies - it holds the allergens in its fibres till vacummed up.
Hardfloors let them float around airborne 🤷‍♀
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Hardwood with smaller carpets that you can easily transfer/remove or clean without moving furniture.
AngelaR80 · 41-45, F
Hardwood in my hallway and kitchen but carpet everywhere else
FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, MVIP
Carpet. Because I'm always Barefoot at home. Its just more comfortable.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
Carpet.

It is soft and not slippery.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
Hardwoods is my choice.

Do does the carpet match the drapes?
Chiefjustice · 46-50, M
Hardwood with some rugs in some areas.
No carpets
No hardwood

Tiles
Hardwood echos too much, plus too cold in the winter.
