@NativePortlander1970 it’s called EMBCC like they send you this huge bill just for seeing a doctor no other reason

@Morrowind Clarify, what is EMBCC, and why did they send you a bill just for seeing a doctor, which state do you live in?

@NativePortlander1970 I call it that cause even the hospital refuses to speak about them so it came out of nowhere and I’ve already been charged by the hospital and lab which both had itemized deductions. EMBCC doesn’t have that, just hey you saw a doctor here’s your bill for that service

@NativePortlander1970 it’s called an emergency provider charge which is BS imo

@Morrowind I just looked it up, the BBB is well aware of otjer complaints and investigated, according to reddit it's legit...

@NativePortlander1970 it is legit but ridiculous. I was there 30 minutes and charged 1600 just for seeing the doctor. But supposedly they want to match the hospitals discount finally so we’ll see.

@Morrowind If you think they're scamming the price contact the FTC.

@NativePortlander1970 what happened was I needed detox meds to sober from alcohol and my caseworker couldn’t find me a rehab facility so she sent me to the ER and I figured it would be like 1500 or so but that was insane so yeah I did fight it and I’m still fighting it and I’m not exactly sure where I’m going from here but it teaches me to never go to the ER again that’s for sure

@Morrowind I never heard of an ER giving out detox meds, they usually send you to a detox clinic if no beds are available at a rehab.

@NativePortlander1970 they prescribed me Librium and that was it besides some blood work. I was sent on my way afterward

@NativePortlander1970 I know they kept saying they were horribly understaffed that day so I was definitely being rushed. Once my blood work came back fine I think they just thought meds go do it on your own which I preferred anyway

@NativePortlander1970 I relapsed after 6 days but started over and I’m a day away now from 1 month sober. So I really didn’t need their help but my caseworker has really helped me along. I see her twice a week, a psychologist and psychiatrist

@Morrowind Meds go do it, they denied you detox meds?

@NativePortlander1970 those were the detox meds I was given. (Librium) They worked though. I felt no withdrawal symptoms and that was why I was really struggling on my own. It was like waking up sober. But my caseworker has helped me not to relapse esp after getting that EMBCC bill. I lost it that day and she was a blessing helping me cope
