I went to taco bell for the first time in months and in the drive thru that AI took my order.

When I am on the phone, where the audio fidelity is a lot better than over a drive-through intercom, I find that voice recognition software often has difficulty understanding me. And I do make a point of speaking distinctly.

When I am at a drive-through, I can barely understand what the person on the other end is saying.

So I shudder at the thought of interacting with AI in that setting!

Artificial "intelligence" might be here, but I am not so sure about artificial "hearing!"

The voice recognition with Google TV has difficulty when sound alike letters are used. Like E, B, V, etc. Like CBS gets interpreted as CVS, and the more I try to correct it the deeper it digs in, insisting that I’m saying CVS :)

I tried to pre-schedule road service on a Sunday last week, and the AI was the only "employee" working that day. It was a nightmare. I could NOT explain to the creepy stupid machine that I wanted road service for the following day, and the thing went ahead and scheduled me for road service on Sunday! My appointment at the garage was on Monday!

I panicked at first. Then I hung up, called back, and cancelled. But on the original call there was no cancel option. Then I had to call back first thing on Monday. I would NOT say that AI is more efficient at helping customers.

For real? Not a fan of AI servers.

Focusing on Taco Bell, I do like their cheesey potato haha.

I don't trust all this AI. I left a CVS because the AI voice on the loudspeaker was so creepy.

Next time go through and order with a Scottish accent just to mess with it. Or Billy Bob Thorton Slingblade voice.

Ask the robot that made the order.
