A video phone from the 1970's.

I think it's a closed circuit TV with a camera on the front door of an apartment building. That way you can see who is buzzing your apartment. The door release opens the door to the building.

@deathfairy I'm not sure about the meaning of that.

All I know, is that this type of video phone was intended to be used by deaf people who can read lips.
