Depends on the context. My general attitude would be to be merciful, but it depends on other factors. Do I believe the monster is genuinely asking for mercy, or is this just a ruse? Is the monster too dangerous to be allowed to live even if it is genuinely asking for mercy? Did the monster do something for which there can be no forgiveness? Are there potential consequences for not granting mercy?

There is no mercy to be had for true monsters. But, I may give them one chance to convince me to spare them. I'm basically a giant bundle of love with a brain attached.

Give mercy

I’d show it mercy and send it to the gallows, until a fair trial is given and circumstances/ evidence determine it’s fate.

My definition of a monster is a human that has earned that title and needs to be removed from existence.
Vampire, a Frankenstein, a demon. They aren't hurting anyone. Great intentional harm only comes from humans. Thus only humans can be monsters.
So the short answer is no.
