Why do all Asians ( East Asians , Indians , Arabs etc..) all have the same mindset about their child’s future career ?

1- doctor 2- engineer/lawyer 3- disgrace to the family
😂

@SW-User aww I’m so sorry baby girl 💗
Fortunately I don’t come from a fam like that but sadly that’s the truth for majority of the entire Asian continent inhabitants lmao

@Moon3624 lol ty i think its bc of the level of competition only stem subjects are favoured, i used to be bitter but one of my closest friends studies fashion and they turned out to be correct its brutal lol

Some Indian parents sued their son and daughter in law, for being married six years and not giving them a grandchild lol
@thewindupbirdchronicles Precisely. My parents were both born and raised in New Orleans and by U.S. standards are very liberal progressive. So are most of the relatives who remain there. But Louisiana the state is a product of the Deep South.
@bijouxbroussard I'd like to know what that culture was; to me it showed itself as very diverse, even though seated with colonial attitudes before. Yet I feel culture broke out and took over. It's my impression from afar.

@thewindupbirdchronicles from my understanding of America Politics History, we're like an accordion being played, always either getting more extreme or coming closer together, but never staying still. Obviously it's been going more extreme lately...

And history can't tell us what will happen with modern and instant social media, which I feel like has changed things, and gotten some to want internet troll types as politicians for the entertainment value p!ssing off the other side.

It's my hopeful/optimistic that it will bounce back and become more central and less extreme, though I don't expect that to happen before 2026 at earliest and maybe should say 2030.

Also I think it's important to point out, that despite all the hate for the opposite side, it should be noted that the two parties do seem to work together to keep the parties in power and not let politicians be individuals or get too far from party lines.

I hate dinner parties where it's all about status. They don't even ask you about your hobbies/life. It's just are you a doctor or lawyer?

-Nah, I'm a peasant.
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@SkeetSkeet and when you're actually a lawyer or a doctor or an engineer or whatever, it gets even worse.
How much do you earn? And other stupid questions about money.

That's why I avoid my relatives at all costs. Lol
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@LookingForTheSummer where r u from ? Lol
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Moon3624 the only state that Napoleon Dynamite is a national hero. Idaho.

I'm Asian. My parents didn't care what we wanted to study and didn't care what job we got. It's "as long as we're happy."
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
I am from India! I always wanted to become doctor that's my own wish, i tried 5 years, my parents never forced me into it, they just supported me, my parents never forced me to bring top grades in my school time too, if i ever failed ,my family told me to try again. Next time you will do better son!
Just life was unfair towards me....
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@AngelKrishaww♥️♥️

I remember watching a YouTube video where some Asian parents visit their daughter in some western country. She was dating a white guy. They ask him what do you do for a living, and he says he's an artist. Parents make a face and say we didn't ask what your hobby is. What do you do to earn money?
It was hilarious. 🤣
I'm not asian in anyway. Being a disgrace to me when they're old enough would be voting the same way their grandmother does

I didn't get that pressure. I think my parents just got lazy by the time I came around which worked in my favour in some ways.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
I didn’t get that pressure either luckily @NickiHijab
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
My fav stereotype is the small dick one cause it's kind of real.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@Sharky86 😂😂 I don’t think that stereotype applies to all Asia tho
Mostly east Asia

Lol. I was named a famed doctor. I feel pressured about that.
You could say doctor is the most important job and you highly valuable and genius (engineers).
Parents can rely on the kids (lawyers) to win case if they messed up at the future. Lol. I see one before, they always use "see you at court or sue you" phrases.

It is disgrace because you have nothing to brag to your peers (parents).
An over obsession with status
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@BeefySenpie exactly
Not my family. Definitely my cousins though.
You know from personal experience?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Oddly I've seen it more with Americans tbh.
Americans first ask me what I do for some reason.

I'm neither a doctor, nor a lawyer, but a front-end developer. Our salaries are actually kinda the same.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@basilfawlty89 interesting
You’ve polled every single one ?
I also certainly know non-Asians with basically that same expectation.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@bijouxbroussard true
but I was talking big picture
Chickie · F
I thought that was a stereotype, but I don't know a lot of Asians.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@Chickie i don’t generalize
But in general it’s the truth lol
