Do you think the US Supreme court should allow for federal vaccine mandates to be enforced?

I've had a busy week and don't always pay attention to the news anyway... Is this already before the USSC?

@NotJamieM unfortunately, yes. Is OSHA authorized to set safety standards in the workplace? If so, then covid is no different than safety standards, vaccines, etc. If not, then we go back to the dark ages when the company controlled the lives, safety, etc., of the workers. Don't think of this as simply an issue regarding covid. Big business would like OSHA to go away, this is a step, that is why SCOTUS agreed to even hear these comments.

@swirlie the USSC is an interesting entity. I watched a case argued there once. But it usually takes many layers of appeal and many years to get there, so they must have fast tracked it.

@swirlie I'll have to do some reading up on this. All I know is the way it is right now, with every business and employer setting their own rules, is NOT working.

@NotJamieM sadly, the virus knows no boundaries, not business, town, city, county, or state, as well as countries.

@swirlie are you being sarcastic, or is this news to you?

@swirlie When preparing for future disasters, as a member of a team after the first Twin Towers bombing, we met in a group and looked at preparation for all disasters, both natural and manmade. We tried to suggest scenarios and protect against them. After 911, and anthrax scare, we started to look at the speed at which infectious diseases, natural or manmade, would spread. Using anthrax as an example. every day that anthrax was missed in the community sparked a geometrical increase in cases and deaths. It was clear that although public health practice was local, organization and coordination could not be. SARS came along and proved that. With the H1N1 we planned very carefully for cross state and country responses, luckily, we dodged that bullet. But, those involved died, retired or just forgot the lessons learned, so when covid hit, from wherever it came, we were all caught flat footed!

@swirlie we may have disagreed on other topics, but not on this! People will look back on these last 5 years and ask, what were they thinking!

@swirlie you sure haven't. there are a lot of beautiful Canadian women on SW recently. Many seem to like my posts, some well, ask for other kinds.
