Lots of lacewings out tonight

***warning. Bug pic

I didn’t take the picture there. That’s from an image search. I wanted reference to what I was talking about. I try taking pictures of lacewings, but they’re never clear. I have the most trouble with bright green creatures like that. Grasshoppers, mantids, and frogs as well. Such a bummer. They’re beautiful. When I was a kid, I thought these bugs were fairies. They looked so magical to me. Now when I see them, knowing what they are, I still feel charmed because they remind me of those days.

Lacewings are awesome, and they’re great for your garden. Have you ever seen their eggs?

@QueenOfTheNerds Like jewels on leaves, right? 🙂

@SW-User they dangle from a long thread. [image deleted]

@QueenOfTheNerds Their larvae are intimidating. It’s hard to associate those spiky beasts with how delicate they start as and end up.
I thought your title said "lace wigs" and I was like why is this person hating on wigs? xD

They look like a more delicate dragon fly ☺️
SW-User
@AmbivalentFriability They’re as beneficial as dragonflies.

Thought you meant on SW tonight lol then I got the context
SW-User
@SW-User lol snails! 🤣 god you should have seen the tryhard-fest on another post. I just invoked Camile and blocked as it's madness to 'engage' with troll fishermen or whatever that thing was purporting to be...love Camile Paglia. I'm gonna read her stuff I think. She seems like a smart and nice lady.
SW-User
@SW-User I had to look up who that is. 😅
She does seem interesting. A brief glance through a search, and she’s talking about what a person’s mask reveals about them. What makes her a controversial or triggering name?
SW-User
@SW-User 'Feminists' [note the use of inverted commas there] and incels really seem to hate her* and you know what? I don't really know why. I just know that I like the woman based on her quotes and will read one or two of her books.

*or that I think to invoke her

THAT'S A GOOGLE PIC

@SW-User Bark, I'm not sure about. I know that moths developed a brown color after the industrial revolution.
SW-User
@SinlessOnslaught I think it’s because the soot that got on trees. Birds would find the white moths easier after that, so only the ones with the dark mutation could camouflage. Then their offspring were dark as well, so the species changed in order for their survival.

@SW-User Yep, that's it.
