My sister's answer to that question would be because she's dead. It wasnt an overdose. That would have been a much better way to go, all things considered. I mean, dying in the prime of your life is a shameful waste of this extremely rare and fleeting opportunity we have called life. It would have been better to go out on a high note than the way she went out.
She had hit rock bottom earlier that year and she sold and traded everything she had worth anything and stole and raided from everybody else close to her in order to keep lingering at rock bottom.
When it it was evident that she had used up all of her usefulness to her drug dealer and she had become a liability, they gave her a hot shot to slowly put her out of her misery, but not before maxing out that misery.
Her last week on this planet was spent in the hospital going through withdrawals while the doctors were slowly carving her away to keep up with the fleshing bacteria that she shot up, courtesy of her dealer. They had to amputate her left arm at the shoulder the day before she died, ..alone with nobody to hold her only hand.
If you're in recovery, please stay the course. You've come a long way. Don't throw it away. You might not make it back this far again if you give up now.

No as I never got addicted to hard drugs.
Alcohol is a slightly different story. I bit of me just drinks beer out of habit and a way of relaxing after after work.

@Sroonaka616 been there. ..for many years. The problem I had was that i was a plumber in heavy construction. 7-3:30 M-F puts me at home before 4pm at the latest. There's still a lot of day left at that hour.
On the smaller jobs, we'd start at 0600, work through lunch and off by 2pm.. .. that's almost like a day off. An argument can be made that it's better than a day off because you're up and out the door and dressed and ready.
But not me. I couldn't wait to get back home and get started on The Daily 12 pack. It wasn't always 12. It started with six then quickly evolved to a 12 pack and then a 12 pack in a pint of whiskey.
I'll take a good tug of a nice cold Heineken after work, then top it back off with Jack Daniel's or Jim Beam and that next step was like nectar. I'm actually salivating a little bit just thinking about it.
Speaking of not salivating actually, I almost forgot about the weed. Daily bong loads after work we're a must also. I couldn't be a civilian without my weed. I get too wound up
Just going your age bracket alone, I'm assuming you're a six pack a day man right now?
I was a functional alcoholic. I never missed work or got into any trouble due to any bad decisions . I never had a DUI or anything. But I probably should have had at least one. I thank my veterans license plates for getting me out of that one. That was money well spent.
I eventually just quit because I felt it was time. I didn't want my kids to think that was normal behavior. So I spent 4 years with White Knuckles but clean and sober.
I haven't had any hard liquor since July 13th 2007, but starting about the same time of year but 2011, I decided it was okay to have a beer. But not more than two on any given day and I'll smoke weed about maybe five or eight times a year I feel this is acceptable

I think shooting dopes is illegal, even in the US.
