Do you think Zelensky will be killed?

trackboy · 22-25, M
I'm thinking of the people in the subway tunnels in Ukraine during the nightly air raids. bombs falling from the bombers flying over with the ground shaking and the lights going on and off with bricks falling out of the ceiling and walls as people scream in fear and pray to their gods. People are in total terror not knowing if the next bomb has their name on it. It is just like the London blitz when the British people were in the subway tunnels with moaning millie or wailing willie sounding as the german Luftwaffe were flying overhead dropping bombs on London in their nightly bombing raids. they would come out of the subway tunnels when moaning millie or wailing willie gave the all-clear. they came out of the tunnels to a bombed-out London with shattered buildings everywhere. burning buildings. burned cinders of people with body parts blown all over the place by the bombs. the stench of death of burned bodies in the air. It is the same today in Ukraine. history is repeating itself again at the start of world war 3. Putin has already threatened to use nukes on Europe. was a very dark time in history back then when the lights of freedom were going out all over Europe. It is now a dark time again in Europe as the lights of freedom are going out in Europe under the advancing communist Russian army. This will go fully nuclear as Russia attacks the nato countries in the east. reserves will be called up as there is a massive clash of armies and armor. the nukes will go off in nuclear exchange between France and Britain with communist Russia. the pope visited the Russian embassy at the Vatican. It is a very dark time in history and may be the end of human history with an all-out global thermonuclear war.

@basilfawlty89 @basilfawlty89 the soviet union is Marxist Leninist. It's a mix of Karl Marx and Lenin in its style of communism. further flavored by uncle joe Stalin than by Brezhnev. when the Soviet ambassador to the united nations first rolled his arms on the desk, then pounded his shoe on the lectern the world quaked in fear of nuclear destruction caused by the soviet union. Russia is the remaining core of the old soviet union. 🍪
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@trackboy the USSR ceased to exist in 1991. Current Russia is capitalist. In fact over the entire former Soviet Union including in Russia they changed to a market economy and privatisation. It's not communism. Everything you think is bad is not communism.
trackboy · 22-25, M
@basilfawlty89 @basilfawlty89 Nikita kruscheve said we will bury you and that communism works far better than capitalism. they supported Cuba and other communist countries.
Politically, it would be very difficult to do so while maintaining that the Russian invasion of the Ukraine is for the sole purpose of cleaning up the Nazi presence.

Killing Jews tends to be their department, after all.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I cannot understand why any Jewish person would collaborate with the Nazis. There isn't even an adequate metaphor for how insane that is. That is the go-to metaphor for unwise alliances.
@CorvusBlackthorne These people are very very nuts. I live in a Ukrainian ex pat neighborhood and some of these idiots are my neighbors.
@CorvusBlackthorne I know there were some Jews that sided with the nazis. Just like you can find black people in favor of slavery. Like Madison crawthon is wanting to get rid of social security disability which he himself uses. You will always find people that fight against their own wellbeing. It's rare but the insane are insane after all.

I'm watching the situation closely and it's nearly a foregone conclusion at this point. He's staying in Kyiv as the Russians roll in.
Because he will die for loyalty not for cowardice@BlueVeins
Yes. In 2014 Putin had tried to install a puppet in charge of Ukraine named Viktor Yanukovych. When Yanukovych's loyalties were revealed, he fled from Ukraine to Russia.

Putin wants to tell a fairytale about how Yanukovych was legitimate and Zelenskyy overthrew him in a coup. That fairytale will be much easier to tell with Zelenskyy tortured and then killed.

UPDATE
In 2002 Ukrainian Pres. Leonid Kuchma appointed Yanukovych prime minister. Yanukovych, who did not speak Ukrainian prior to his appointment, shared Kuchma’s desire to maintain close ties with Russia. As the 2004 presidential election approached, Yanukovych was presented as Kuchma’s clear successor, and Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin offered support for his candidacy. During the campaign Yanukovych’s chief opponent, the pro-Western Viktor Yushchenko, became ill after an apparent assassination attempt, and the race drew international attention. The results of the first round of the election were inconclusive. In the November runoff Yanukovych was declared the winner, in spite of exit polling that showed Yushchenko with a commanding lead. Yushchenko’s supporters took to the streets by the tens of thousands in a series of protests that were dubbed the Orange Revolution, and the runoff results were overturned by the Ukrainian Supreme Court. In a new runoff held on December 26, 2004, Yanukovych was soundly defeated.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow He's an actor, not a politician.
doong · 56-60, M
@Crazywaterspring And the current one is an Actor + Comedian
@doong You mean like Ronald Reagan?
I didn't think Putin had anything to gain by invading Ukraine. economically alone the Ruble dropped by 51% when he invaded the Crimea. That was years ago...gained him nothing but a few square miles of land.....and the Russian economy still hasn't caught back up...........but he still did that....and he just did it again. So his goals don't make sense for himself...his rich friends or Russia. But I think if Zelensky was killed it would make a martyr out of him and the Ukranian people would NEVER forget that.
DylanGuy · 22-25, M
can't say if he will or won't. But it's a possibility as russia has shown it can launch weapons deep across ukraine.
I doubt his government's exact location 24/7 is public knowledge, but it wouldn't surprise me if russia takes a shot at him when given the opportunity.
If captured it's possible he may be executed but also very likely he will receive a public sham hearing and sentenced to life in prison. Perhaps used as a bargaining chip if the rest of ukraine keeps fighting.

There are a lot of ways this whole situation can go down and we can only speculate on the likely possibilities and then see what happens.
DylanGuy · 22-25, M
@ididntknow quite different.

The Z man will take the money and run remember he came to fame by comedy. he says he not with corruption, he didn't know what an oligarch was/is.. Remember Ukraine is Biden backed and USA writes the checks for Ukraine... Great PBS Special On the Zman
beckyromero · 36-40, F
Very likely.

The Soviets executed Prime Minister Imre Nagy of Hungary after the 1956 rebellion.
Probably. Putin isnt playing checkers, obviously.

Were they to do that, I think the other shoe will drop on Mad Vlad and Russia econmically across the world spectrum. And, I promise you, China right now is watching all this through it's microscope, with their thumb on the red "go" button. They have to before the next U.S. election produces a President where all the lights are on.
Reflection2 · 41-45, M
I hope not but I do fear it

Looking back at the history, it is not impossible. Remember Chechen leader, Dzhokhar Dudayev. Died by missile strike after Russia able to detect his location by tracing his cellphone.

I think if the Russians get hold of him he will be killed eventually, possibly slowly. I hope he can avoid being taken alive and I hope his family get out of the country.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
In a word, yes. The KGB and Putin do not take prisoners. Sadly, there will be wholesale "disappearances," of many Ukrainians.
llloydfred · 56-60, M
Ukraine has many destroyed buildings and public works Vs Russia none
Sakashvili was allowed to flee..ironically to Odessa. So he might get out.
fun4us2b · M
Yes, and Putin will then say it was Zelensky's own doing...
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Considering he's not leaving Kyiv it's entirely possible.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Doubt it, unless by accident.
@MrBrownstone they have circumvented 3 assignation attempts

It will be sad when it does happen.
