Confessions of a monarchist.

This will seem strange to some of you, but hear me out. In the U.K. we mock our politicians, even the ones we vote for. They’re self serving grubby people who serve their term then leave us in the the shit every four years. The Queen was someone different. She had a dignity and purity that made her the nation’s grandmother. She didn’t care what your religion was, what your race was, what your sexual orientation was. If you was British she served you and you served her. When the pandemic happened, all who gave speeches, only the Queen seemed to know the right thing to say.

During my time in the military I was happier thinking I was serving her, rather than serving the moron at Downing Street. The politicians were flimsy and temporary but she was a constant and a power under god that I respected. She was “The Boss” and I was serving in her armed forces against enemies of the realm. Mostly ISIL in my career.

Now we have a King. He has with him a Consort he has loved for over 50 years. A King in mourning for his mother and new to his responsibilities. He deserves patience and time.

In him I see a leader above the petty politics of the left and right. Long may he live, long may he reign. Happy and glorious.

This is how I feel. Comments for or against are fine. Anything openly disrespectful is going to get deleted so save yourself the time.

I have heard rumors to the contrary, but very well.

Here is my opinion with regards to monarchy. If one is blessed with a good king or queen, it is a fine system. If one is not, it is a terrible system. In particular, when the ruler is determined by who happens to come from the correct bloodline, it can end very badly.

I would suggest a compromise between our two systems. Elect a king or queen for life, with the possibility of removing them if they turn out to be a poor choice.

@CorvusBlackthorne An election would muddy the crown with the ambitious trash that pollute Downing Street. She was our Queen, he is our King.

@WintaTheAngle And so you are prepared to blindly expect whoever happens to inherit the role, without getting any say whatsoever in the matter?

@CorvusBlackthorne We can’t all be soulless republics.

@CorvusBlackthorne There’s a happiness and satisfaction in loyalty and duty that is unavailable to others. Other countries just have politics. Two parties clawing at each other endlessly. We have something greater than that. Something good and right that has stood the test of time for more than a thousand years and will continue to do so as long as there are good people.

@WintaTheAngle I stand behind my previous response.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@CorvusBlackthorne I’m sure. And I stand by my own convictions.

@WintaTheAngle I shall say it one final time. A monarchy is only as good as the current ruler. You blindly worship Charles, choosing to ignore his history of misdeeds. And I would venture to say that his heirs are even worse.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@CorvusBlackthorne What history of misdeeds? Him loving a woman of his own choosing? Him marrying another against his will? Him cheating on a wife who cheated on him? Him finally choosing to take up his responsibilities with his wife at his side? Inconsequential.

@CorvusBlackthorne Okay pal if you’re switching to insults then that’s enough from you.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@WintaTheAngle I mean, you're the one who's willingly blinding yourself to all the bad things Charles and family have done. Oh, and you started it with the insults.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@WintaTheAngle I do not even recall what I wrote.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire Can you point out the insult you’re referring to please?
