Remember when Obama referred to the Constitution as a "charter of negative liberties"? The left constantly trashes the document saying it's outdated, was written by racists, needs to be overhauled or abolished altogether. Except that the real purpose of the Constitution is to restrict the gov't from infringing upon our rights. So, there can only be one reason why they would want to change it.

Here's the thing you need to remember about the Democrats:they care only about power,and their viewpoint will change from day to day depending on what will help them achieve that goal.They are strict Constitutionalists when it serves their purpose;they will say it's a "living document"when it does the same.

If it were to their perceived political advantage to be strict constructionists, then they would be strict constructionists.

Whatever enhances their power.

Though some in their party acknowledge the document, others use it when “ convenient”.

Democrats would change the document to fullfil their need for power
