How I am "feeling" personally has little to do with the mid-terms. During every Presidential term by one party or another, the OPPOSITION almost always does better in the mid-terms than the party in power.
Real Clear Politics polling presently has the national average for the Democrats up by 6.2%, except for states like Florida. Mid-terms are swinging toward socialist DSA candidates who are promising all sorts of free stuff in SOME states.
Fuel and fertilizer prices are squeezing small farmers, as they have for the last SIX years.
As a former Democrat, (now an Independent voter), whose mother used to say, "Always vote Democrat, because the Democrats support the farmers"...I can tell that may have been true ONCE, but stopped being true a very long time ago.
The Farm Bill, which WOULD have addressed most of the issues of concern in the article you present, is presently being held up in the US Senate...because of the absence of Mitch McConnell, who could tip the majority back to the Republicans IF he were present, and several other Republican members.
DEMOCRATS blocked the Senate version of the bill because it failed to reverse prior cuts and cost-shifts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). (In other words...it's the Democrats holding up aid to farmers).

@4meAndyou Interesting. I know in the US you're extremely polarized on political parties, and have always have been. Generations voting the same. It's good that you've looked into it and done some research, changed your mind. I haven't researched much about the US and probably never will. I'll just be lazy and ask other people here. I initially thought Trump would be ok, he was at least somewhat funny in the beginning but that opinion has changed due to new information coming out and I'm a Canadian. I would be lying if I didn't say, I wish he was out of there. Between covid and him, the world has changed to the point that everyone is on the brink of insanity, on edge, angry, stressed, depressed and upset. That includes the young teens, mental health issues in Canada are at an all time high and it's not because all Canadians are inherently mentally ill woke, as many MAGA would want people to believe. I for one, have never been a Trump hater, I'm balanced in my view but tired of the abuse but I understand some still like him. Thank you for informing me on the SNAP program, I'll have to look into that!

Typically and historically, the midterms turn against almost every sitting Presidential party. It’s one of the checks and balances ingrained into the system.
This thing this year is, and it’s hard to tell for sure, but it looks like it may not just swing like a pendulum of stability, but rather fall like guillotine of fate right on the Republican party’s neck.
Only time will tell. And who knows what Trump and that idiotic 25% of the country that makes up Trump’s true base will do if that happens?
I’m an American and I have been following this shit for 40+ years. I’ve been advocating for and begging friends to vote 3rd party for 3 decades. Nobody’s ever listened and some called me crazy. But after Ross Perot the Dems and Reepubs got together and passed laws that make it virtually impossible to elect an independent President.
I feel like a fucking fuse is burning. Like we’re all sort of sitting on this powder keg that nobody really sees because it’s got a fucking tablecloth on it….
I’ve been good with predicting these things over my lifetime. But now….
I have no idea what these next 3 years are going to bring.

My general opinion is that in the US, in communities with less 250K, we have have governments that are generally for and of the people, and live up to a "we work for you" professed mandate. But into big city and beyond it's all about special interest trying to muscle their opponents out of existence and a "we work for our special interest and elections have consequences". So who will hold the power after the midterm will be whichever special interest can slam-dunk the other. It's Republicans Vs Democrats and not about which candidate can best represent their constituents, because it's basically none. Elected officials beyond small town America represent and work for their political party, and not the people.

You need a major long due overhaul of the electoral process (be it ranked choice, or full proportional representation) and that isn't happening in this political climate.

He may be the most unpopular politician in American history at this point but that still means he has a hardcore base who always turn out to vote and is also pulling out every stop on voter suppression to try and cheat the election.
American elections are actually very hard to cheat, which is why voter suppression is the #1 tactic for this stuff, but we'll see. I do think it won't be enough and he'll lose the house and senate despite the gerrymandering and shutting down polling stations and attempts to kill mail in voting.
