@SW-User I've no idea what you purchased, what (if any) tariff rate was charged, or what the vendor's business model is. Context is everything. I was simply pointing out what a tariff is . . a sales tax.

@SunshineGirl in other words you just wanted tovbe argumentative. I point out tariffs are in fact paid by the company if you support the right companies. Nothing can disprove it but you still had something to say amd just had to post it. The price has never gone up on that particular wine and the company is paying the tariffs

@SW-User I wanted to be factually accurate. The vast majority of exporters (esoecially those of manufactured consumables) do not have sufficiently high profit margins to absorb an additional tax imposition of 10% or more. So they pass it on to the consumer, which results in higher inflation or reduced trading activity.

Anyhow, since Trump has chickened out of most threatened tariff impositions and the whole sorry how has been ruled to be illegal, this is a largely hypothetical economic argument.
