Does Australia really deserve such ostentatiously ugly blots on their skylines?

Perhaps they are thinking of the tax revenues on its operation.

That close to the sea, though? Or is the illustration deliberately foreshortened? I don't know what that coast is like for storms, though of course it won't be affected by rising sea-level within its lifetime (likely only several decades) 'cos the President won't allow the sea to rise anywhere near his properties.

The article shows the developers are confident it will be built, so presumably they are among the shareholders, but surely they can't be 100% certain.

I have never visited Australia but did have the impression it manages to have a thriving tourist industry and cultural life while avoiding the worst excesses.

@ArishMell We have our moments. Like the Irwins Australia Zoo and a few others.. And city folk tend to be like city folk in most Countries. But generally speaking its built into us to be easy going and fair to all..And those who arent are not favoured. I assume you know of the "Tall Poppy Syndrome". We cut them down.. Its alright to be rich or smart. Just dont make a fuss about it..😷

@bijouxbroussard Its starting to look like that was a brain fart by the Gold Coast Mayor after a dinner with Trump at Mar a lago. No confirmation from Trump.And frankly with the restless grumbling of the natives here, I doubt it would even become a hole in the ground.😷

@bookerdana Fair point.. Even I am amazed at how quickly everything has turned to merde for America. I would have put money on one of his own secret service people taking him out by now. But I was banging on about Americas economy before Trump came on the scene. I did not count on the clown show that has gone with it. There is hardly an adult in the room..😷

@ArishMell Before Politics and even before the Apprentice, his career in business went from one disaster to the next, requiring successive bail outs from his father, then his mother, then the US banks, then Russian banks after US banks refused to lend him any more. because he defaulted. My University actually used him as a case study of how NOT to run a business. And as is often quoted. Who goes broke owning a casino?? He did, twice..😷

@ArishMell So far the only one I have heard in support is the Mayor of the Gold Coast. A long time self promoter and friend of Trumps type.. Imagine the Mayor of Las Vegas..It seems he is the source of the story..😷
