Does Trump want American farms to fail?

For the past week or so Trump has been saying that he might put heavy tariffs on fertilizers.
Right now the US imports over 80% of its needed fertilizers. And the reason for that is because the US doesn't have a lot of the minerals and chemicals that are needed to make potash – a vital nutrient in fertilizers. So soon 80% of American farmers might be paying way more for their fertilizers. So I figure Trump either didn’t think this thing through – or he wants American farms to fail because of some diabolical plan of his. Cheers!

Yes, he wants them to fail so he can reward them with a government handout and take credit for it.

@MarkPaul Well that’s kind of diabolical of Trump. It is also kind of like closing the barn door after the hoarse got out. Trump has been promising to help the farmers for months now. Cheers!

@Nanoose Well you have to remember, he only thinks of himself, and he has started his battle with dementia.

@MarkPaul Yeah I have always figured Trump only thinks of himself - and all the money he can make well president.
As far as the dementia goes – it is pretty scary. Trump has been doing some crazy things for years so when his dementia really kicks in who knows what he will do. Cheers!

@Nanoose The bigger problem is, most dementia patients have minders who acknowledge the dementia of those in their care. In this case, as he goes on his dementia-fueled rampages, his minders will claim everything is normal and some might even copy him to demonstrate how they favour him.

President Trump is all tactics no strategy, so trying to find logic in this action is going to be painful...

he wants them to fail so he can reward them with a government handout and take credit for it.

That's what really confuses me. Farmers voted 75-80% for President Trump. Is this another example of President Trump making enemies of allies?

Trump has been promising to help the farmers for months now. Cheers!

Good question. The government subsidizes farmers based on the type of crop produced. $9 billion subsidies were paid to farmers last year. 70% of those subsidies went to the large industrial agricorps, not to family farms. That $12 billion farming bail out announced yesrterday isn't all going to farmers, it's almost all going to a handful of billionaire corporations that rely on the government subsidies to exist...

Still can't wrap my head around why President Trump policy punishes family farmers so badly...

@MarkPaul I was thinking about that earlier today. Trump could drop his pants at the top of the Air Force One stair case and do his YMCA dance. And then the WH would say stuff like – oh that’s just Trump being Trump and then add a little jab about Biden. Cheers!

@tenente It's like when he marveled that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in New York City and not lose any support. Treating his supporters badly and watching them stick to him like gum on the bottom of a shoe is a turn-on for him. He literally gets off on kicking sand into the faces of his supporters as they say, "thank you, may I have another." CORRECTION: With tears in their eyes, they say, "thank you, Sir, may I have another?"

@MarkPaul In medical terms they call that Munschausens, by proxy. You cause the disease then become a hero with the cure..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Yes! That is it exactly. He literally has that disease, in addition to dementia. And, it's why he becomes giddy when people call him "daddy." They literally become his next victims.
