How long can Trump go on destroying the country before he’ll be stopped by the Senate?

Top | New | Old
My guess is, there may be a slight chance around mid term elections of someone trying to cut deals with Trump, but the Senate's not going to do anything before then short of really insane military stuff or unified economic action against him, which seems pretty impossible before then.

The thing is, while you and I may think Trump is "ruining the country," he's really not for most Americans, affecting their lives drastically and immediately. And he's winning, against the press, universities, corporations and businesses, who, like politicians, he can destroy.

Come 2027 or so, things could change when folks start thinking about who's going to run the Country after Trump kicks the bucket or can't be propped up a la Biden, but for now, I think most people will find it safer to wait it out, tithe to Trump and hope to get some kickbacks.
@sunsporter1649 Limited Government, really?
@Thinkerbell It's not about us vs them for some Democrats, anyway, as well as some former Republicans.

@MistyCee

Yes indeed, and some former Democrats... Karine Jean-Pierre, for example.

Her book should be interesting.

The Senate was a disunited body of self-interested, wealthy and mistrustful aristocrats, unwilling to risk their own prospects, and determined to present a virtuous, united front. [...] When Caligula's death was confirmed, the nobles and senators who had prospered through hypocrisy and sycophancy during his reign dared to claim prior knowledge of the plot, and share the credit for its success with their peers.

History doesn't repeat itself but it often rhymes

I think we're better off praying for natural causes to catch up with him.

I hate to say it, between his weight and venous insufficiency, he will either stroke or have a fatal heart attack.
Horsefrost · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 You take care of yourself first.
Wiseacre · F
Right, what takes so long? @samueltyler2
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
He won't be stopped by any member of the MAGA Party... it's madness to wait for that to happen.

Elected representatives have allowed their greed and ambition to make cowards of them all, and the 'C' in SCOTUS stands for 'corrupt'.

As far as the Free World is concerned you're a plague zone, and completely untrustworthy.

You're being governed by Executive Order, unreported backroom meetings, and social media... good luck!

Chips will be manufactured in and around Arizona

Leaving aside the incredibly simplistic view of such an industry being developed... do you really feel that americans will work for $4 an hour and no benefits in order to match the current production costs of electronic goods?

@Horsefrost
I have never seen a leader like Donald Trump

I have:

vladimir putin
ferdinand marcos
jinping xi
muammar gaddafi
viktor orban
jorge videla
alexander lukashenko
saddam hussein
robert fico
pol pot
...
@Horsefrost says
They want self sufficiency which is a break from the old pattern of interdependency. It's a new wave of self sufficiency. It's not a disconnection.
So, if your concern is an expansionist nation (e.g. USSR or China), you're saying the best response is NOT a NATO style alliance?? You're saying the best response is every nation for itself???
DUUUDE!!!

No idea and we don't really have time to test any hypotheticals as we're busy making America great again.

Yup, we despertly need more illegal alien murderers, no more police, no more prisons, and free everything for everybody, right?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@sunsporter1649 I thought ICE had already done that
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 The next time you think will be the first time

Imagine the outrage if Obama was caught on international tv cheating at golf like trump was?
They'd be fit to be tied.

He's incapable of shame.
