I'm a bit alarmed at Trump activating California's National Guard over Newsom's authority.

I understand he's allowed to do it legally, but the pretext is murky and the consequences are dire.

Id he does this in all left leaning states, a constitutional crisis I think creeps even closer to armed conflict.

I'm also alarmed. I'm not any kind of expert on the federalization of Guard forces, but I sure would like to know if there has ever been another case where a State Guard has been activated by the President against the wishes of the Governor. It's weird and scary.

@sarabee1995 yes, by Eisenhower to enforce allowing an African American girl to a school in Alabama against the wishes of the segregationist Governor Wallace.

My error the situation was in Arkansas.

Read about the Posse Comitatus Act which essentially restricts the military from coming into a state without being invited.

@samueltyler2 Yes, I'm very familiar with the history of the Posse Comitatus Act (studied it in depth at OCS) which restricts the actions of the Army (and derivitive branches like the Air Force and the Space Force, but not the entire "military"). Policies (not laws) similarly restrict the Department of the Navy (which includes the Marine Corps). This is likely why it is the Marine Corps which is being threatened upon California.

@sarabee1995 TACO Don keeps calling anything he disagrees with an insurrection! That is his excuse now, calling this an insurrection. He is using this as a trial balloon for the future circumstances he might want to intervene. Watch the interim elections very carefully.
