Can't for the life of me understand how politicians colluded with pharm makers to keep prescription drugs overpriced in the US for so long. People living along the Mexican border can just walk across the border and buy prescription medicine for 25 to 50 percent less than they pay in the US.

@Heartlander when a new drug is made the drug company has rights to that pill for so many years no other company can make it, so they charge whatever they want, after so many years, the patent runs out, now any company can make it, then it becomes generic, and very cheap

@oldguy73 can't remember the name of it but there was one prescription drug that was simply a combination of 2 popular OTC drugs. So as a wise consumer the choice was to either split the two OTC pill in half and take half of each for 5 cents a dose or buy the prescription version at $30 a dose. Easy choice for smart consumers, not so for those who didn't know what they were prescribed.

@Heartlander Congress members are exempt from insider stock trading laws. They made sure to add that to the law that everyone else is supposed to abide by. So they can invest in pharmaceutical corporation stocks. I bet more than a few are pissed about now.

While I am all for spending less i wonder if it will lower my insurance premium.
For those with insurance the copays will probably be the same
I'm also a little concerned with the prez demanding a company or an industry controlling prices.
I remember the Nixon attempt and the businesses worked around the rules.
If he wants to help then he should continue with the price of housing, cars and groceries while he is at it

@cherokeepatti that's interesting. Not joking. That is interesting. And I wonder why the liquor industry hasn't fought it

I certainly won't be doling out any criticism concerning this recent effort until we see how it actually translates. This measure is wholly counter-intuitive to many other measures the administration has taken in recent weeks. It seems unlikely, but I would jump for joy if it actually leads to anything tangible. It's a bit early to start singing his praises at this point.

Hey, I hope it works out and even If I don't like him if it accomplishes that I'll hand this to him
The one thing I am kinda leery about just not understanding the mechanism being hinted at since the language and order is very vague is this
Again though I hope it works out, but it's very vague in how it plans to accomplish this and Trump is hard to trust in general.

. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish a mechanism through which American patients can buy their drugs directly from manufacturers who sell to Americans at a “Most-Favored-Nation” price, bypassing middlemen.
. While in theory I'm not really opposed to this. It's so vague I dont know what it means and worry if it means to cut out the pharmacist as the pharmacist is actually a really important function in drug prescribing safety. The pharmacist is the person who actually knows about the drugs. .much more then doctors are able to know and do know and prevent a lot of dangerous interactions the prescribing doctor might not be aware of.Again though I hope it works out, but it's very vague in how it plans to accomplish this and Trump is hard to trust in general.

That's not an issue but what I do have an issue with is a free 747 which is obviously a payoff from a nation that supports terrorism. And Bitcoin cryptocurrency. Why is there even an anti-corruption law And since he does not have to list that as bribery then my unlisted income should also be untaxable and we won't call that bribery either

He works SO hard to try to make our lives better...and the Democrats are SO jealous that he holds all the power that they have lost their minds.

I saw this, I remain cautiously hopeful.
The only time I ever agreed with Trump in his last administration was on his infrastructure plans, but that seemed to be sidelined for his wall/muslim ban stuff

Big pharma will have it declared unconstitutional. There's this crazy federal judge in Amarillo who lives for this.
Those politicians in bed with big pharma won’t like that.
