Cher gave us the Beat Goes On and with Trump it's the madness goes on ..

WASHINGTON — References to a World War II Medal of Honor recipient, the Enola Gay aircraft that dropped an atomic bomb on Japan and the first women to pass Marine infantry training are among the tens of thousands of photos and online posts marked for deletion as the Defense Department works to purge diversity, equity and inclusion content, according to a database obtained by The Associated Press.

I served with the Grandson of BG Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay. His grandson’s name was Grant Tibbets and he retired as a Colonel.

@KunsanVeteran I can only imagine how that flight affected him
@Convivial I didn’t know that Grant was related to him until the General died. The General’s middle name was Grant and my friend was named for his Grandfather.

If they really do carry out such a plan, would that not be erasing parts of your country's history?

@ArishMell
Now the DoD seems trying to censor the USA's military history. To whose benefit?

Not only, what is it telling Americans. What is it telling the rest of the world?

Do you know how many Black Marine fighter pilots there were in 2023? 5
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/10/16/marines-black-fighter-pilots/

There are 60 Black fighter pilots in the Air Force and 15 Black fighter pilots in the Navy.

That racism goes back to WWII. Like George Wallace said = "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever."

That is why they went nuts over Affirmative Action and are killing the DEI program in all segments of American society. And, it is why the social benefit programs are under attack. Their intent is to restore Jim Crow and eventually reinstitute chattle slavery.

@Diotrephes What a tragic state of affairs. When will such prejudice end?

Racism and related attitudes are by no means just American; and by no means just between white and black.

Other countries have brought in laws that broadly ban discrimination, rather than trying to enforce what is rather absurdly called "positive discrimination".

On the whole these seems to work fairly well, but it is extremely difficult to educate people out of deeply-entrenched social attitudes originating generations ago - in WW2 as you say, but well before that.

Ironically it might be easier where the original prejudice was openly hostile, than where it was a sort of patronising that was held to be for "their" benefit, at the time.

@sunsporter1649 seems the republicans are the ones wanting it to fail, and democrats trying to prevent it.
