What are you? 12?
@HoraceGreenley okay, sure. Because recognizing the numerous felonies he's committed means you're crazy.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire Ex-presidents don't go to jail.
@HoraceGreenley Why not? Are they above the law?
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire First, presidents get a pardon for all prior acts once they take office. Secondly, president's cannot be indicated for acts while in office. Impeachment and removal from office is the only remedy. Lastly, going after ex-presidents only establishes a preciedent for future reprisals, i.w., they did it to me so next time I'm in power I'll do it to them. The cycle of vendettas is bad for the country. Nothing gets done and the vountry looks like a bunch og buffoons. Other countries won't cut deals with us, because they are afraid any deal won't stand up when power charges.

So it's not done.
@HoraceGreenley So the criminal Trump is above the law.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire No. It's how Presidential politics are conducted. Even if he broke the law he would hardly be the first.

Secondly breaking the law at that level is not very clear. For instance President's can't, at least superficially have people killed. That's the law. But there can be mitigating circumstances thst allow it. So should a President be indicted for putting out a hit? Many things are a matter of opinion.

So there are many circumstances that can be interpreted in many ways. If indictments and impeachments hare tossed around casually, the chaos i mentioned tesults.
@HoraceGreenley Okay, let's put Trump aside for a second, since we can't agree on whether he broke the law. (Although he did, just sayin'.) Instead, let's imagine a fictional president, Joshua Crook. President Crook lost an election recently, and he's a really sore loser, so he steals 200,000 pages of classified documents, then deliberately incites a group of people to bust into the Capitol building and terrorize the folks counting the votes. And when his vice president, Ima Goodguy, refuses to help him screw the country, Crook tells his Twitter followers to kill VP Goodguy.

Should THAT be a punishable offense?
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire in that case we need to lock Biden up too
@HoraceGreenley On what grounds? Are you literally telling me you think he has incited an insurrection like Trump did?
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire Biden has classified documents
Nanoose61-69, M
@HoraceGreenley There is a first time for everything. So Trump could be the first US president to go to jail. And he might also be the first US president to serve time with his children.
@HoraceGreenley
Biden has classified documents
Yes. So did Trump. And Trump had a shit ton more of them, and lied about it to the FBI.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@LordShadowfire But as President he can declassify them. As a senator and VP, Biden cannot. Plus senators are not allowed to remove classified materials from the Capitol.

All in all, Biden's actions are far more egregious.
