I try.

@V00doo Best we can do sometimes
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
Yea ☹
Sometimes people don’t seem to deserve kindness, but everyone’s going through something. I don't mean letting things slide, just a door to understanding. Kindness is as much for our own peace of mind as it is for others.

@mindstruggle Yep.
SomeMichGuy · M
@mindstruggle I like this sentiment!
bijouxbroussard · F
I’m capable of civility towards anyone—that’s how I was raised.
But those who know me can tell the difference between me being civil vs the warmth I can show people I like. 😔

Yes, at least it's not my job to judge whether a person deserves it or not. When I give out food at the food bank, I give it to those who show up, even if they are driving a Lexus.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I maintain a professional disposition if at all possible.
Example: I had a gig last night and some family attended. It was also the anniversary of my dad's passing. My mom was there with her boyfriend who has not only dissed my bands in the past but only been openly scornful of me. Did I want to curb stomp him? Yep.
I simply greeted him and moved on.

I try really hard because you don't always know what someone else is dealing with. I don't always succeed, but I try.
Everybody deserves kindness. And I'm not in a position to decide who does and doesn't receive compassion.
RogueLodyte · M
Yes, but when they question, accuse, or suspect me of having any motive other than feeling that they are deserving, I will eventually withdraw.
I try to be a good person, but when someone tries to gaslight me into thinking I am not, I tend to accomodate them.

I am polite; I was brought up to be so.
People are so hungry for compassion in this self-absorbed world that they often equate it with kindness.

AlienTheExtraterrestrial · 36-40, F
@Justmeraeagain Do you think politeness is kindness? I don't get what you are saying
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@AlienTheExtraterrestrial It's not always.
It can be, and I still believe being polite is better than battling it out with everyone you don't happen to like.
To me, it is just common manners to be polite.
Kindness goes beyond mere politeness in my view.
But, in this world of impolite rudeness all around us, the mere act of being civil is equated with great kindness because people don't meet up with great kindness very often.

I keep them at a distance.. But If I'm around them I am just polite, not too friendly or kind.
wackidywack · 26-30
I do but not always, sometimes instead of kindness it's just indifference because i cant bring myself to give anything at all
Cigarguy · M
Yes I'm told by many this is a fault of mine
SinlessOnslaught · M
Lately, yes.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
It depends on why I think they don’t deserve it.

@SwampFlower It's hard to be kind to some people

Yeah sometimes,
But context matters,
Sometimes people are just a human version of this kitten:

Selah ·
No. You have to be pretty irredeemably terrible or possessed by demons for me to think you don't deserve kindness or compassion.
AlienTheExtraterrestrial · 36-40, F
@Selah It’s scary that people answered this as if they encounter people who don’t deserve kindness or compassion on the regular
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
