Do u believe in the art and science of happiness?

So many books on how to be happy...have u read any, and did they help?

Once you learn to differ being happy from being content, it gets clear.
Happiness is an incontrollable, fleeting, reflex-like emotion. It comes and goes in waves, similar to other emotions.

Contentment, on the other hand, is something malleable.
See, when you give extra attention to what brings you joy, you can bend your level of contentment to your conscious will, which makes it easier to "feel happy" more often :)

I am not sure if I have cracked it, I think I am still not wise enough and I feel all emotions as they come. But since I have been working on what I pay most attention to, I do feel more content :)

@Busybee333 👍good for u..being conscious is so important.
I've read many and watched lots of videos on the subject.
No, they didn't help because my unhappiness comes from my programming from which I operate 95% of the time. The information from books and videos is registers in my conscious mind. So, even though I understand the new information perfectly, as long as the habit mind is running the show, what I've learned consciously is ineffective.

@PhoenixPhail very good comment..if u had trauma, I recommend Bessel van der Kolk.
@Wiseacre I'm quite familiar with Bessel van der Kolk. Great stuff.
Thanks for the recommendation.

They aren't going to teach me anything I can't arrive to on my own.

Give me millions of dollars and that right there would be happiness

@Wiseacre the right people make it lasting, which isn't hard to do

Money isn’t lasting@deadgerbil

@Wiseacre it absolutely is, unless you want to blow it on bs

I find it interesting but not terribly useful. There is no one way fits all.
